even more frustrating is when you call the corporate office they acted like you didn't have a right to call and inquire about your child By 7 pm I got in my car and went and picked my son up in newark...My son will never travel with people to people again. The list of things that went on over there was appalling ...being exposed to pornography getting shot at by air guns. belted with water baloons etc..No way.

No, I did not receive this email !!!!

I am also very frustrated. I do not have a smart phone and believe it or not, was somewhere that did not have internet access. I left that place to come home so that I could get the information, only to find none of any consequence.
Although I appreciated the phone tree communication, it was not at all definitive, and came very late. AND There was no update when there was information. Again, my understanding was that this was the means of communication to be used for mass messages. I only joined this google group at the last minute and thank goodness I did.... I am very glad that this all came about over something as minor as a flight delay and the kids are safe.

I am not at all thrown by the fact that there was a flight issue, there usually is. I am not complaining that they did not get back in time.

I am extremely dissatisfied with the communication. period. good experience or not, that's my kid and I expect to be given official word and updated by P2P directly.

Matt had a very different experience; he thought all of that stuff was odd but funny; he enjoyed the trip immensely and I found the organization did a good job overall.

My daughter Jessica had the best time. She would go on another People to People trip again. She loved it and has made some great friends. I believe that that kids in Newark were in great hands and it provided them with even more to remember about their trip. I feel people to people did a great job as did Nancy and Ginny.

Jessica has traveled internationally before and understands that delays and rerouting is to be taken all in stride. If you can't go with the flow, you just make yourself and those around you miserable.

I do not believe that my daughter walking past a porn store with mannequins in suggestive positions is that bad. I've heard worst from her regarding the school bus she rides. Have you ever been at a Bills game in Buffalo? I have had half full beer bottles thrown at me by Bills fans. I'd take a water ballon over a beer bottle any day.

I would recommend people to people to other parents. It's an experience of a life time.

Alex also had an absolutely wonderful time. He loved all the experiences and anything that they were exposed to were parts of their cultures. I questioned him about the instances, and he said the same thing, it was odd, but funny, and no one was ever in any danger or ever was even slightly upset by it. With the terrorism around the world and trying to keep abreast of the really harmful situations, if this is all the kids were exposed to then I think that they did a great job as well.

I would have to agree! Brendon had a great time. He made comment of how their culture is different than ours but that is what makes it interesting. I too talked to him about the instances and he said that no harm done and felt that it was funny. I was a little disappointed about the extra confusion about the delay coming home but that is all a part of traveling by plane. I thank the leaders for doing a great job watching over my son!

I have to agree.  My daughter Olivia had a wonderful time.  She has made some great friends and experienced so much.  There are far worse things that have happened on the school bus or at school than walking by a porn shop with suggestive window displays.  Unfortunately, delays are part of flying and while it was frustrating, I was always comfortable that Nancy and Ginny were doing their best and that Olivia was in good hands.  It is not easy to put 2 people on a plane sometimes after a missed flight, let alone 20 some.  Olivia would go with people to people again in a heartbeat and I wouldn't hesitate to let her.

I have to agree too.  Cassie had a great time also, when I asked her about the porn shop she said it was no big deal.  I never had any doubts that she was safe with Nancy and Ginny, I think they have done this a few times!!  I flew home from Hungary that same day and our flight was also a couple hours delayed which caused many people on our flight to miss their connecting flight, there was some bad weather in NY the night before which delayed a lot of the flights from Europe, not much you can do about that.  I would send Cass with them again if she wanted to go and I thank Nancy and Ginny for taking good care of them for all those days.  I'm looking forward to the reunion in September.

I wish to add my heartfelt appreciation to Nancy and Ginny for all of their hard work and wonderful stewardship. I never felt that our kids were in harms way and these 2 women are to be complimented on their ability to deal with the frustration of the flight delays.  I am very happy that they were leading our group!!  Thanks again

Hmmm!  It is late sunday night or early Monday morning and we have just returned from our family vacation.  WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT CELL PHONES OR COMPUTERS FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK!  NICE!

So I am not sure what the issue was on the P2P trip, nor am I concerned about it!   As far as I can tell from listening to Ian talk for the last week is that IT WAS THE MOST WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE OF HIS LIFE!  I have listened to Ian talk about his trip for hours!  HE HAS NOT HAD ONE NEGATIVE THING TO SAY!  HE IS PUSHING FOR A SECOND TRIP!  I have nothing to say but positive things about the experiences my family has had with this group and these leaders!

I am GRATEFUL Ian was allowed to experience the Education that traveling provides young minds. It shapes their attitudes about the people and cultures of other countries and allows them to learn how to make social connections. Words on a page can be read and pictures memorized but actually traveling to these places makes kids want to turn the page in their history book, write the essay about an artist and say, "I have been there or I saw that painting!"

MY HEART FELT THANKS TO BOTH GINNY AND NANCY!  I must say I was never worried or concerned about Ian's safety and I would not have been worried about an overnight stay due to airline delays save the fact that it was a concern with our other travel plans!  Thanks to the leadership team we worked things out and we made it just fine!

This now completes trip number 6 for the Marin family.  The other 2 boys got 2 trips each from me and Morgan took care of 1 himself.  I figure Ian will manage to squeeze another trip out of me, that is if they will have him again!

GINNY AND NANCY, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR DEDICATION AND PATIENCE!

Lisa G. Marin
