Hey,

Just tried using the new version to see if it worked with my camera's white balance (see post) and it works. However, I have encountered another issue and I think it's related to the new update.
After exporting a TIFF file, I always open it in GigaPX Tools PRO to transform it using the web viewer feature for my website. After exporting with 13.4 / 13.5, I get "Input file read error" message:

ighjepth.png

I have tried to export the exact same images with 13.3 and GigaPX Tools works fine, as it had before.
Here are the exported tiffs and raw files if you want to try for yourself, perhaps I'm doing something wrong? Perhaps the bug is linked to the GFX 100SII?
Google drive

EDIT:
I was thinking that the issue could be linked to my camera so I tested my previous cameras' photos with 13.5. The results are quite strange:
5D MarkIV: PTGui Import OK -> GigaPX Tools Bug
GFX 100S: PTGui Import BUG (screenshot)
GFX 100SII: PTGui Import OK -> GigaPX Tools Bug

eprohker.png

Seems like the 100S and 100SII might have conflicting data? Doesn't explain why the 5D TIFF file is also bugged though... I'm out of ideas!

Sorry for bringing more problems,
Geoffrey

Hi Geoffrey,

I think the problem in GigaPX Tools is due to the compression of PTGui's
TIFF output. PTGui 13.5 defaults to using ZIP compression for TIFF
output (previously it used Packbits by default). Perhaps GigaPX Tools
doesn't support this. See the Settings button next to the file format in
the Create Panorama tab.

The LibRaw input/output error is something different, this looks like it
might be a problem in PTGui. I can't reproduce this though. When I try,
all your raw files load fine in PTGui 13.5 on Windows. How did you
trigger the error?

Kind regards,

Joost Nieuwenhuijse

Merci Mireille.

It turns out it's not the raw file itself, but PTGui 13.5 on Windows
fails to load raw files from a folder containing non-ASCII characters
(accents or asian scripts).

A fix will be available soon.

I have always exported my panos with these settings and the TIFFS have always worked with these in GigaPX:

Maybe I can test some other combinations? Any recommendation for best quality possible? I haven't done any research on the topic, I've always just chosen no compression..

"It turns out it's not the raw file itself, but PTGui 13.5 on Windows

Great catch! My file name was this:
zopigjzeg.png
I guess the æ is causing issues. Other raws from other files from the same camera work just fine.

Thanks,
Geoffrey

I forgot to mention, there's another change, PTGui now writes tiled TIFF
files.

I would expect them to support this but perhaps this is not the case?

Hmm I see. I'll try to contact them and report back. If they are unable to support it, am I just doomed then? Having to choose between unsupported camera or unsupported file 😂

For the time being you would be doomed..

Yes please contact them, I can imagine they might want to support tiled
tiffs anyway. If it turns out to be a different issue please let me know.

Kind regards,
