Hi Fred,

Yeah, it has really been a long time since we met--probably before I left in 2012 to take care of my mother, or possibly 2013 when I first got back. It has been so long that I don't even remember what you look like--I've tried a few times when I read one of the infrequent newsletters because I distinctly remember meeting "Norbert Klein." My kids are technically step kids although I'm raising them alone with some help from their grandparents, but they are all teenagers and have no desire to hang out with Dad and his friends.

Best Regards,
Walter

Hey!

Nice to hear from you. I'm suppose to go to Kep on a friend's farm to do
motorcycle riding for a weekend. Probably second part of July or August.

Else do you come to PP sometimes? We could try to coordinate something
if you want. My Free Software days are very quiet, more into web
standards and security nowadays (and scripts and automation). Though
there are a few Free Software 'web tools' (not CMS right) which I should
definitely take a look at.

I'd say I am quite isolate in Phnom Penh as well ;-)

Thanks and may we meet again soon.

Fred

Hey Brad!

Sure let's try to do something. On the OS side I haven't changed much,
still Fedora for vanilla GNOME desktop and Ubuntu for servers. AI I
read, what would you use it for, if it's not a state secret?

Let's see if we can get a few of us meeting up then.

Thank you.

I had to change to W10 because of my different working environment when I moved to Kep in 2013, but I kept Ubuntu on a personal notebook.

Thanks - let me know when you are in Kep. I will let you know when I get to PP - not often.

Hey Brad,

Long time, no see. I just asked someone (Reuben, maybe) the other day if
you were still around. I also moved across the river, but much further
south in Chbar Ampov. I'd love to meet up with you guys in theory, but with
my schedule and 4 kids, I know that the reality is that I'd rarely if ever
make it to a meeting, just as before. The one time I did go--at Freebird if
I remember right--nobody else showed up. I settled on Mint Cinnamon at home
several years ago and have seen no reason to change. I've had the same
setup for years and except for not being able to get USB audio to work,
which I admittedly have only spent 30 minutes trying, I have little need to
really delve into Linux internals these days, as I've also moved from
working on Laravel VPS-based sites at work to WordPress sites on managed
hosts. Still, always nice to learn to learn new things.

Best Regards,
Walter

Gee... that's like the opposite direction from Brad's location! Well
maybe we can combine a kid outing and a meeting nearby?

Let's see.
