Against Caste-fanatical Politics – Toward Caste-annihilation:
A Conference on November 7 Anniversary of the Russian Revolution
**********************************************************************************
When: 7.11.2015, Saturday, 2.30PM to 9.00PM
Where: Balamurugan Marriage Hall, Madhavaram Post Office, Chennai
(CP(M-L) People’s Liberation, Tamilnadu. Ph: 9884963101)

Comrades!
Our society is characterised by its dual nature of class and caste structures that are intricately entangled. From the times of feudalism to the capital of today, it is the dominance of upper caste elites that continues. In land, commerce and the trades, the role of the depressed classes continues to be denied. Brahmins and other upper castes have preserved their hegemony in commodity production, state administration and in the cultural sphere. Through the struggles for social justice led by Ambedkar and Periyar, the depressed and backward classes have begun to be represented in the state machinery only in the last few decades The upper caste elites who cannot tolerate this have vehemently persisted with their anti-reservation politics. The intermediary caste-hegemonic forces who cannot digest the growth and contribution of dalits, have been unleashing violence and vandalizing their properties in the context of issues centered on inter-caste marriage, worshipping rights, access to public resource and common burial ground etc.
Through the de-recognition of Ambedkar-Periyar Study Circle at IIT-Madras, the Brahmanical caste-fanatical Saffron army exercised its political clout. For a long time, political parties have thrived on the agenda of securing majoritarian-caste vote-banks, by means of installing statues, adorning them in golden armour, forming coalitions with casteist leaders and so on. As a consequence, targeting the majoritarian intermediary-caste vote-banks, the DMK and the AIADMK have created the arena for caste-fanatical politics. The upper and intermediary caste elites have benefited and have been strengthened through the state welfare schemes and agreements. Officials, political leaders and Panchayat contractors have formed a new breed of alliances to aggravate caste and caste-fanaticism. Not only in Tamil Nadu but across India, it has come to pass that caste-associations are established and manifest themselves as political parties with their own caste as the exclusive foundational base. Parties like the DMK and the AIADMK that yearned to target majoritarian castes as their vote-banks, have found closure in gravitating toward these caste-based parties.
From Dharmapuri to Seshasamudhiram, the PMK very openly functions as an organisation propagating caste-fanaticism. By uniting other intermediary-caste associations, it has intensified anti-Dalit politics. The Saffron-army backed BJP that foregrounds violent Islamophobia, besides having joined hands in the last elections with parties like the PMK that spearhead caste-fanatical politics, BJP has been meeting with caste-association leaders and inciting caste-fanatical politics in view of the approaching Assembly elections. The depressed classes and their associations are either swallowed, or are in the midst of a severe crisis. To uphold democracy, the tradition of annihilation of caste pioneered by Dr. Ambedkar, Periyar and the anti-feudal tradition led by the Communist movement should rally together to fight the caste-fanatical politics. It is essential for Anti-caste Class unity and anti-caste Tamil nationalism to be constructed in the political sphere. While confronting the rampaging caste-fanatical politics of massacres, it is also our duty to carry forward the caste-annihilation politics with vigor.
* Let us defeat the forces that incite caste-fanaticism to seek political gains!
* Let us fight to enact a law that will prevent casteist 'honour-killings'!
* Let us destroy the degradation that is manual scavenging!
* Let us resolve to constitute a caste-free egalitarian and just Tamil Nadu with the right to self-determination!
