Passing on an event that was just announced and is now accepting applications. This is the first African open science hardware summit (it is also open for people from outside Africa). It'll be in Kumasi, Ghana from April 13-15, 2018 and should be an incredible event. More information can be found here: http://www.africaosh.com/#gtco-about
Also wanted to point to a short response that was drafted by a number of people working in open hardware and science to the U.S. National Science Foundation when they asked for suggestions of research areas that could benefit from "networks of networks" between the U.S. and other international locations.
