Hi all,
Happy new year!
We're planning a small sprint at ifPeople to get some local (mostly Salesforce) people up to speed on the Plone-Salesforce tools. In preparing to drop half a dozen or so new people into the ecosystem, we were reviewing the documentation on plone.org for Plone-Salesforce and noticed it hasn't received a lot of love lately. In particular, the part that links to the buildouts is at Plone 3 and several docs are 2+ years since an update.
I'm wondering if this is still where this type information should be centralized. If this is still the right direction for it, then is anyone interested to help in updating?
Anyone using the buildout there? Would it be useful to add a Plone 4 version?
We'll be working on a Plone 4 buildout for our sprint that includes several products and can add that to the collective (https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/salesforcebaseconnector/buildouts/trunk/ ), if that would be helpful. Hoping to smooth the "on ramp" and improve the experience by getting Plone 4 experience for newbies. If the section still serves, we can spruce it up some.
Anyone active on the list managing permissions to that documentation? Thought I had access, but apparently not...

I haven't done nearly as good a job of keeping this documentation up to date as Andrew used to, and would be happy for assistance.
I think there are several different sorts of documentation which belong in different places...
- overview of what tools are available: definitely belongs on plone.org
- package-specific developer and reference documentation: belongs on pypi and the plone.org product pages (I upload releases to both and it is generated from the README files in the package source)
- tutorials: doesn't matter too much where, but we should link to them from a central place, probably the overview documentation on plone.org
It would also be nice to have a portfolio of existing Plone-Salesforce integrations highlighting approaches that were used.

I already started a Plone 4 buildout located at https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/salesforce, which I am using to run nightly tests at http://dexterity.wglick.org/ (but I haven't been paying enough attention and they are failing to even build much less complete the test run, so the buildout probably needs some minor updates).
This buildout is really oriented toward development of the products though. If you want something useful to newbies, it'd probably be best to have a separate buildout which pulls in stable releases of the products. Or better yet, a well-written tutorial which walks people through getting started.

Thanks for taking care of this, Jon.
cheers,
David

Well, that's not nearly as bleeding edge as I thought it would be! I was expecting to see dexterity and other goodies in there :)
We are planning on contributing a Plone 4 "stable" release profile. Suggestions on where that should be? ie in the collective/salesforce or in the collective/salesforcebaseconnector?
