I personally find something like this
http://groups.google.com/group/play-framework/browse_thread/thread/774e71234fcb80
is very useful especially when it has features list and architecture.
The new module contribution documentation suggests only "add
documentation"
http://www.playframework.org/documentation/1.2.4/modules#documentation
But, it would be better if there's any kind of template like:
- Usage
- Dependencies
- Purpose
- Architecture
- Features
- Screenshots (when applicable)
- Demo (when applicable)
- and so on

What's there, but not clear from the documentation, is that the module skeleton you get when you run 'play new-module' already contains a template:
https://github.com/playframework/play/blob/master/resources/module-skel/documentation/manual/home.textile
If you think that more is needed there, or that the documentation should make this clearer, please create a Lighthouse ticket tagged 'documentation' and submit a pull request for changes in:
https://github.com/playframework/play/blob/master/resources/module-skel/documentation/manual/home.textile
