That sounds strange, but maybe simh have some funny business around the
whole thing.
Maybe you are explicitly setting CSRs and/or interrupt vectors? As soon
as you touch that, simh turns off it's automagic stuff, so from that
point of view, in which order you are doing things might matter a lot.
