Dear School Garden and Farm to School Co-workers, Colleagues and Advocates,
After a wild ride of eight years as a part of Growing Gardens Youth Grow Program, I'm off to focus on family connection for a season or two, in addition to supporting as a garden coordinator and educator at my daughter, Magnolia's Montessori Primary school. I'll also be assisting and supporting my son, Victor, on his self directed learning journey. I will also be coaching through the Oregon Farm to School Institute, which is a really exciting opportunity.
While you won't see emails from my
growing-gardens.org address coming through your inbox, or hear me reach out to you, through the Youth Grow Program Director role again, I have no doubt that this is a goodbye for now, not forever.
I feel a deep connection to school garden advocacy and resource building work and hope to be involved in a variety of capacities in this work, collaborating with you all in the future in new and exciting ways when the time is right.
The positive impact that each of you have as parts of your respective communities; with our youngest community members, and more broadly on restoration of connection with the earth and ourselves is truly inspiring and yes, well, just awesome. Thank you to each of you for being changemakers, community advocates, and centering humanity and the planet in the work you choose to do day in and day out. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity for our paths to have crossed. It's humbling how much I've learned from you each.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing space with me throughout these years.
Please know that Growing Gardens is as committed as ever to growing gardens and being in community and collaboration with our neighbors and friends, and that includes you! At some point in the coming couple of months or so, it is likely that the incoming Youth Grow Program Director may reach out to you to connect and collaborate. Until then, if you have work related questions, you can reach out to Jason Skipton, Growing Gardens Executive Director at
ja...@growing-gardens.org or Kim Deras, the Youth Grow Program Manager at
kimb...@growing-gardens.org.
May our paths cross again!
