John Wardell MAKGILL (born 1944), descended from the 3rd son of the 10th Bt. Died 20 October 2013
MAKGILL, John Wardell Passed away at Waikato Hospital on Sunday 20th October 2013 in his 69th year. Loving husband of the late Val, wonderful father and father-in-law of Braedon and Kylie and Amanda and Wayne, special Pop to Ryan, Dallas, Korbyn, Cole and Jaxson - your influence on and love for your family is irreplaceable. Dad was an outstanding human being who was taken from us all far too soon. A celebration of Dads life will be held at 1pm on Friday 25th October at St Andrews Anglican Church in Cambridge.

Valerie Joan MAKGILL (nee TURNER), wife of above.  I think it is clear she had another marriage with issue. Died 17 September 2011
MAKGILL, Valerie Joan. On 17 September 2011 peacefully at home, in Cambridge, surrounded by her family. Loved wife of John, cherished mother and mother- in-law of Gillian and Hoddo, the late Greg, Karen and Paul, Braedon and Kylie, Amanda and Wayne. Treasured nana of 11 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. A service for Val will be held at St Andrews Anglican Church Cambridge, on Friday 23 September 2011 at 1pm. Followed by burial at the Leamington Cemetery.

I tracked Braedon down on social media - a reference in one post to his "two boys", so presumably two of the 5 named in the first notice are his sons, and likley to be in remainder.

Stephen Stewart MAKGILL (born 1929 - based in South Carolina, US according to DB 2008), descended from the 4th son of the 10th Bt. Died 2019.
Stephen S. Makgill (FCAS 1957)
1929-2019
Stephen Makgill died peacefully at his home in Newtown, Pennsylvania, at the age of 89. He was married to Joan Woods Makgill for 63 years. Heather Makgill Lyon wrote that her father took great pride in being a CAS Fellow and that he and her mother had many great memories of CAS meetings and gatherings. An active CAS volunteer, Makgill most notably chaired the Long-Range Planning Committee (1986-1988) and received the Matthew Rodermund Memorial Service Award in 2008. He was born in Auckland, New Zealand, and graduated from the University of Michigan. He worked at The Travelers Companies in Hartford for 20 years. He moved his family to Berwyn, Pennsylvania, when he became president of the Pennsylvania and Delaware Compensation Rating Bureaus. In 1989 he retired with his wife to Fripp Island, South Carolina, where they spent 27 years playing golf and tennis. The couple loved to travel and often visited family and friends in New Zealand. Makgill also loved to fish. Makgill is survived by his wife; children, Kathleen (Greg) Sisk, Stephen (Kelly) Makgill Jr., Heather (William) Lyon and Allison (Trevor) Giles; brother, David of New Zealand; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren

The notice gives a different spouse to Debrett's database (& DB 2008) for his son Stephen - Debrett's currently gives Diane CORCORAN as his wife.  He may have re-married?  Further work in social media indicates that Stephen Jr has a total of 9 (!!) children (5 boys, 4 girls) - not clear if all boys in remainder.

BIDDULPH baronets (1664)
Exceptional care is needed with this family - Debrett's records four William Burnett BIDDULPHs born 1930, 1925, 1927, 1939; all appear to be in South Africa.  There are significant gaps in the pedigree with many references in Debrett's to "descendants, if any, of ..."

Iris Ann Alayne (Annie) SHEPHERD nee DUNDAS b 1928 d 9 March 2016 - see Funeral Order of Service 2016.03.09.SHEPHERD.Annie.pdf (dq5pwpg1q8ru0.cloudfront.net)

Obit in Victoria TImes Colonist 12/14/March 2016 - ANN SHEPHERD OBITUARY:

SHEPHERD, Ann Ann [sic] Shepherd died just after 9:00 pm on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 after a long and happy life. She was 87 years old. Annie loved and was loved by her husband of 60 years, Bishop Ron Shepherd who died in 2012. She was also a mother, librarian, beekeeper and hospice volunteer. Her passions included sewing avant-garde outfits that dazzled the communities she lived in. She loved throwing parties and would cook from dawn to dusk for days in preparation. Another passion of hers was hats. Whether heading to the beach for a lazy day of reading under an umbrella, or marching in a peace protest or dining out, Annie always had the right hat. But her greatest passion was children. She was a counselor at Camp Columbia in her teens and a children's librarian in Montreal in her fifties, and in between those years she raised six children of her own. And with that many children, the memories are myriad. From long winter nights rocking them to sleep to ease their earaches or nightmares, to those endless summer days at the Lake, with melting revels in the sand, the soothing balm of her hands on their sunburned shoulders, and an unforgettably graceful front crawl, she was their hero. A measuring stick for grace and character. Annie, a graduate of UBC and McGill, lived with her husband Ron on Salt Spring Island where they entertained friends from all over and were always happy to see their children, Mary, Jeremy, Christopher, Susie (2013), Timothy and Peter and 8 grandchildren.

She was the dau of Hon Richard Serle DUNDAS, 3rd son of the 6th Viscount (1880-1968) and (by 2nd m 1926) Mathilde Mary SAXON (d 1979).  She m 1952 Rt Rev Ronald Francis SHEPHERD (d 2012), sometime Bishop of British Columbia, and had 4 sons and 2 daus

Her dau Susan Clare b 1960 d 22 July 2013 in Winnipeg, Manitoba - Susan Shepherd Obituary - Death Notice and Service Information (legacy.com):

SUSAN CLARE SHEPHERD

August 4, 1960 ~ July 22, 2013

Susie died in Winnipeg, July 22, after a second battle with cancer.

She was a lifelong teacher, poet and writer. She lived in Edmonton, Montreal, Vancouver and France, but always returned to her favourite place: Winnipeg. Whether teaching ESL or High School in Winnipeg or France working with her students was her greatest Joy. She also enjoyed the arts, music and was never without a book and an opinion.

She is survived by her partner of 33 years Mike Clive, her mother, Ann and siblings Mary, Jeremy, Chris, Tim and Peter. Susie was predeceased by her father, The Right Reverend Ronald F. Shepherd.

Those who knew Susie experienced the “force of Nature” that she was, she lived her life on her terms and did things her way.

HARTWELL baronets

A possible line of collaterals is noted in Debrett's database:

Grandchildren of late Frederick Edward Hartwell, of Tichborne, NSW, Australia, yst son of 2nd baronet:-

Issue, if any, of late Frederick Sydney Hartwell, b 1886.

I am not sure the Year of Birth for Frederick is correct (it is also repeated in my print copy of Debrett's 2008), as my copy of Burke's and thepeerage both list him as born 31 May 1896.

Frederick Sydney died 22 October 1917, killed in action.
The CWGC gives his age as 22, but this doesn't look to be correct (or Burke's had the wrong DoB), and there seems to be an issue with the spelling of his middle name (Sidney, not Sydney), but given the family connections of the writer on the VWMA site, I am convinced this is the correct person.
The CWGC records make no mention of a widow, so we can safely assume he died unmarried, and so this line is now accounted for.

Richard James Annandale JOHNSTONE, b 2 April 1865 Halifax, Nova Scotia, died 22 August 1940 Cape Town, South Africa.  He m 1891 Julia Henrietta ROTSCHILD and issue 2 daus (Dorothy Florence 1894-1971 and Gladys Muriel Rose 1898-1899) and 1 son (Annandale Charles Edmund, born 1900, m 1921 Irene BLAKEY - no other information given)

I have made no effort to verify this Ancestry tree's work (I am not a worldwide member) but it seems to have sourced all of this.  If Annandale had a son, there is a chance of the line being extant.

The following may or may not be connected, but I found him in the South Africa Deceased estates list and the names suggest he might be connected, possibly issue of Annandale Charles Edmund based on his DoB:
Richard James Annandale JOHNSTON (4 Nov 1922 - 13 Apr 1999)

Worthy of further research, especially if you have experience with South Africa records.

ANNESLEY earls

A line of possible collaterals is given:

Descendants, if any, of late Warden Beresford Grove Annesley, 3rd son of late Richard Grove Annesley [, eldest son of late Lt-Gen Hon Arthur Grove Annesley, 3rd son of 2nd Earl]

According to Burke's Warden was born 1882.  He died 3 August 1971 according to this page: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/198288425/warden-beresford_grove-annesley

As he is memorialised on his mother's grave, I think it is likely that he did not marry or leave issue, but this is by no means certain.
