NAPIER Baronets of Merchistoun (1627)

It would appear that John Stirling NAPIER of the Milliken Estate, St Kitts (b 1935) was murdered on 25 Oct 2009.

Less than two weeks later, October 25, the Federation was again shaken when word got out that a double murder had taken place. John Napier (75) was attacked in the supposed safety of his Milliken Estate yard. Reports suggest that Jadell Browne borrowed a machete from Napier and chopped him in the head. Shortly thereafter, he turned his focus to Wilfred Simmonds before launching an attack on Sylvester Harris. He was stabbed multiple times in the back, head and neck. Napier was pronounced dead on the scene while Simmonds and Harris were transported to the JNF General Hospital where Harris succumbed to his injuries.

He was the son of Alec(k) Douglas NAPIER (1894-1965), descended from the 3rd son of the 9th Baronet, and (m 1927) Dorris Mary Clara HILL. No marriage or issue given in BPB or DPB

Lorne helped with the operation of the farm and was to use the skills learned during those years throughout his life.

Lorne always loved cars, trains, planes and ships. In later years, he took up collecting model trains and spent many hours, with his grandchildren, building track and scenery.....

NORFOLK dukes (but see KNARESBOROUGH barons (extinct 1929) in Debrett's online)
Elizabeth Helen SUCKLING (nee HOWARD) , born 1924, died 4 March 2007 (probate search).  Her death is reflected in Debrett's 2008 print edition, but still shown living in the KNARESBOROUGH article.

She was the 2nd dau of Sir Algar Henry Stafford HOWARD (1880 - 1970) and Hon Violet Ethel MEYSEY-THOMPSON (1886 - 1960). She m 1958 Harold William Norman SUCKLING (died 2002) and had issue: 1 dau.

The editing of the NORFOLK article in Debrett's online also has some unfortunate implications - it implies that Stafford Vaughan Stepney HOWARD (1915 - 1991) was a son of Sir Algar, but in fact he was his younger half brother.

COTTER baronets (I 1763)

Shirley Joy COTTER (nee MARPOLE) died 10 November 2015 (as well as this being the article date, it can be confirmed in a probate search)
She m 1951 (Harry Barfield) Chester COTTER (1921 - 1996), scion of the baronets of that name (descended from the eldest son of the 4th son of the 1st Bt)

Nov 10, 2015
SHIRLEY JOY COTTER

Life was way too short for Mom! Shirley passed away peacefully in Quesnel at age 92, leaving behind family and friends who will be eternally grateful for the mark she made. Predeceased by her husband, Chester Cotter, 1996, and sister Garda Johnstone, 2014, she will be missed by her children
Rick Cotter, Joel (Kate), Jan (Michael) Kidston, Doug (Ashley), 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. We’ll see you later Gramma!

Shirley moved from Calgary to Vancouver after her father Chester Elliott passed away at a young age. Vancouver was the place of long lasting friendships, interests in vintage cars, music and animals. As part of the War effort she packed parachutes, and riveted Warbirds at YVR.
Chester and Shirley were married in 1951, and moved to paradise in Bachelor Bay near Whytecliff Park.
[...]

A couple of notes:  Debrett's online lists her marriage to Chester COTTER as 1957, but my copy of Debrett's 2008 print edition lists 1951.  Given the obit agrees with 1951, I take that to be correct.

Debrett's online does not list a child named Rick (or similar), and does not list Doug's marriage to Ashley.  Only 5 grandchildren are listed by Debrett's Online, and no grandchildren, so some more information to be added in time.  Given that Joel was born in 1952, the year after his parent's marriage and unusually Rick's surname is given, is it possible he was not Chester's son and was adopted/took the surname later?  Given the recent death of the 7th Bt, the senior male in this branch is now 4th in line.

He was predeceased by :
his parents, Shirley Cotter and Chester Cotter (Patricia Cotter). He is survived by : his siblings, Joel (Kate), Doug Cotter (Ashley) and Jan Kidston (Mike); his sons, Brent Cotter, Colin Cotter, Kelby, Owen (Kelsy) and Bronwyn Cotter; and his grandchildren, Eileah, Kalina, Spencer, Sienna, Hailey and Nicholas.
[...]
I am now MORE confused - who is the Patricia Cotter given in brackets after his father Chester?  If he was born 1944 he was not born in wedlock for Chester & Shirley, but did Chester have a previous marriage with Patricia from which he is issue?  It seems still possible that his issue could be in remainder.

The above list gives 5 more of the grandchildren mentioned in Shirley's obit, so there is now only 1 unidentified grandchild, and this list accounts for all 6 great-grandchildren, though it is written 6 years after Shirley's obit, so more great-gc may have been born.

ROBERT WEBB OBITUARY

In spite of his brave battle, cancer has taken our beloved Bob. We will miss his quiet strength, ready wit and strong sense of fun.
bob was born to Anne and Les Webb in Davidson, Sask. Bob's only sibling was his beloved big brother, Jim.
Bob's love of nature started early with his years as an avid boy birdwatcher. As a high school athlete in Regina, he excelled at basketball, football and curling
After receiving his Honours Degree in Zoology from UBC, Bob embarked on a career in wildlife biology. As one of the first biologists with Alberta Fish and Wildlife, Bob developed a love of the land and formed many lifelong friendships. He was instrumental in developing early wildlife management programs.
Moving with the family to Manitoba, he became Chief of Game and Fur Management.
Bob embarked on the next phase of his career - environmental consulting - in the early 1970s. He founded his own successful company with offices in Richmond and Calgary, mainly conducting environmental impact assessments for the oil and gas industry.
Bob was known to all as a valued family man, friend, biologist, fisherman, hunter, curler, pilgrim, gardener, mentor - all around great guy.
Bob and Orma travelled to many parts of the world, including a Mediterranean cruise last May.
Bob was awarded a lifetime membership to the Richmond Curling Club as thanks for his many years devoted to organizing junior curling. He enjoyed mixed and masters curling. During the last few years Bob had great success in "Over 80" bonspiels. He just loved his 'old guys'.
Left with wonderful memories are Orma, his wife of 60 years, daughter Tanis, son Scott, grandson Drew, granddaughter Richelle, loving nieces and nephews, great friends and special neighbours.
