From the Times of 16 Feb 2021: SELBORNE John Roundell Palmer, the Earl of Selborne, died peacefully at home on 12 February 2021, aged 80. Private funeral. Memorial service to follow.
He was s of Maj Viscount WOLMER (1912-ka1942, s&ha of 3rd Earl of SELBORNE (1887-1971)) and as her 1st of 3 h Priscilla (1915-2010, having m 2nd her first cousin 4th Baron NEWTON (1915-92) and 3rd Frederick C H Fryer (1922-2002)) d of Capt John EGERTON-WARBURTON (1883-ka1915) scion of that gentry of Grafton Hall and as her 1st h Hon Lettice LEIGH (1885-1968, having m 2nd Lt-Col John D Walters) d of 2nd Baron NEWTON (1857-1942). He m 1969 Joanna Van Antwerp (b 28 Feb 1946 reg Q1 Oxford) d of Evan Maitland JAMES (1911-2008) of Abingdon, Oxfordshire and Joan Goodnow (1917-89, d of John Van Antwerp MACMURRAY (1881-1960, American diplomat) and Lois Root GOODNOW (1895-1963)), and had three sons and a dau. His eldest son succeeds him.
[Rt Hon] William Lewis PALMER (b 1 Sept 1971) 5th Earl of SELBORNE, has yet to establish his claim and appear on The Peerage Roll. He m 2001 Victoria Emma (b 1971 reg Q3 Yorks) d of David B F BAUM by his c1966 m (reg Q1 London) to Helen D ROSENSTEIN, and had two sons (Alexander David R PALMER Viscount Wolmer b 21 May 2002 and Hon Thomas James PALMER b 2004) and a dau (Lady Anna PALMER b 2004)
