LINDSAY, Alexander (Sandie) Sebastian 1940-2021

From the Times of 23 Oct 2021: LINDSAY Sandie on 12th October 2021, aged 81, leaves his wife, Ann, three children and seven grandchildren.

He was s of Hon Thomas Martin LINDSAY 1915-95 (s of 1st Baron LINDSAY OF BIRKER 1879-1952) and his 1st w (her 1st h) Denise Theresa Marguerite Mary 1912-2004 d of Gerald Albert VAUGHAN. He m 1962 (Deirdre) Ann d of [Cpl] Leonard William DICKSON [1914-ka1944 in Italy] of Glasgow, and had two sons and a dau.

The seven grandchildren are not listed in DPB online. His dau Emma m 1993 David KELLY and there are 11 Kelly/Lindsay births on BMD between 1993 & 2003.

Sandie LINDSAY was lately heir presumptive to his first cousin, the 3rd Baron (b 1945, m twice, no issue, resident in California)

His eldest son is the new heir presumptive: Simon Alexander LINDSAY, born 1963, m 1993 M Angeles PEREZ (of Spain), no issue found in BMD searches.  Companies House records show him as a Partner in Bevan Brittan LLP, a legal firm.

This title is remarkably low on young heirs. Despite 9 males in remainder being born between 1940 and 1967, only one is shown by Debrett's as having any male issue (Sandie, of whom we treat); the only other issue known of these males is of Stuart Martin LINDSAY - 3 girls (and it was our group that uncovered this - Lindsay of Birker collaterals). There is some hope that one of the grandchildren mentioned is in fact a new heir.

The LINDSAY OF BIRKER entry on the Debrett's database was updated today to reflect this death, and at the same time now includes several new issue of his children:

Simon Alexander L. has issue by his wife (the issue have adopted the surname LINDSAY-PEREZ): 2 dau (born 1996 / 1999) and a son (b 2001).

Thomas Peter L. - no marriage or issue noted.

Emma Susan L. - m. as above. 1 son (b 1997) & 2 dau (b 1999 & 2002)

There is still one grandchild not accounted for of the seven in the notice.  Importantly the discovery of the son of Simon breathes new life into this title.
