This is based in one comment made by Herbert123 in this Forum (*). Thank you for the idea.

To can edit sub-xSheets in its context is a big lost. You need it if you want to tackle projects with certain degree of complexity, mainly paperless type.

"To edit a sub-xsheet in its context:
Right-click the related xsheet icon on the right of the menu bar, and
choose Enable Edit in Place from the menu that opens."

(Toonz Harlequin User Guide pdf pag 217)

"2, We removed buttons for moving across sub-xsheet hierarchy in the menubar. Because this UI is rarely used in ink&paint or color design work, and also because it was, in our thought, not so much inportant function as occupying large space in the menu bar area. Instead of it, a text "(Sub)" is displayed in the title bar of Xsheet panel for showing whether you are in sub or parent xsheet. Moving accross sub-xsheet is available with the cammands in context menu of Xsheet."

(Explanations about changes from Toonz Harlequin to Toonz Ghibli Edition made by the person who was in charge then : https://workflowy.com/s/JtI13Zub8a#/15c068be6f19 )

Something like this would be great ! :

I knew something was missing! I just could not imagine that the developers would not have thought of editing a subsheet in context.

Turns out that (vital!) feature is the last missing piece.

I do hope this function will be restored.

Thanks for finding out, Juis_3000!

Matitanimata can tell us about the usefulness of open sub-xsheets in place, working with ToonzHarlequin:

"6) interface - many things that I can find and use in a click in Harlequin (the subsheets for example) now are a bit hidden in the menus."

Yes this is really an important feature in paperless workflow, especially if you want to animate in digital cut-out because every character can be composed by several layers, so it's  a good idea to make subsheet for each character in the scene.
Of course without the "edit in place" function we can't set the right pose for the character in the scene, because we can't see the background and the other characters on the stage.

Another feature that is still missing and that is really useful for paperless is the onion skin in the x-sheet, it is a bit difficult to explain but I assure you that is really important to have it as it is in toonz harlequin.
It is one of the few things in which Toonz is really better than ToonBoom.

However version 1.02 with the keys visible on the x-sheet, the "save all" command, etc... is a big step ahead.

another thing that I think it would be useful, especially now, is the automatic backup feature of the .tnz file.
Harlequin, inside the scene folder, creates a "backup" folder in which keeps the previous version of the tnz files, so if something wrong happen and the file becomes corrupted you can retrieve an older tnz file and get back the scene.

Thank you. I think those things must be prioritaries first because its utility is already proved, and second because code in some way they have to be already done, and now is the moment to avoid lost it.

I agree, they have exactly  the same code of toonz harlequin,
so It should not be a big job, the problem is that they have a traditional workflow so they are not really interested in these features, let's hope in their benevolence :D

"We hope the high-quality software that meets the demands of animation professionals will
contribute to revitalizing the animation industry."
Mr Nobuo Kawakami, Chairman and CTO at Dwango (*)

If they are looking for this, they have to think also in paperless. IMO to open sub-Xsheet in context is a must.

In few weeks they have done a great job, seems to be they are facing seriously this project.
