Shaundra - I am indeed interested in the ledger that you found. If it could be copied,  I would pay for the trouble and cost of the photo-copy plus postage.  There is no way that I could pay anything near what Judy mentioned in her reply and I would not want the responsibility of having the original anyway.  I agree that it would be well placed in a library or historical society.  I am interested in the ledger because my great-grandfather, John J. Metzgar also served in the 76th Ohio Infantry and therefore would have served with your ancestor.  By the accounts that I have, John enlisted in the 76th Ohio V. I., Co. B. He began as a quartermaster sergeant; was promoted to second lieutenant Sept. 30, 1862; to first, March 12, 1864; to captain, Feb. 18, 1865, and served on the Staff of General C. R. Wood. He was mustered out in 1865, and entered mercantile life at Newark, Ohio. His letters to his wife written while in the war have been found in the collections of a library and I have them copied and I am in the process of transcribing them.

Ladies and Gentlemen. I am writing to ask about a special ledger that I
found while going through my recently deceased grandmothers books and
papers.
It is a handwritten diary by my great great great grandfather Charles A
Willison to his daughter Mae. He was a member of the 76th Ohio Army
Infantry, and it is a written account of the entire 3 years of service that
he went through from 1862-1865. It accounts Gen. Sherman's special orders,
details every battle (Vicksburg, Atlanta, etc), in the trenches with
friends etc. The book was printed and only a few copies made (one was
included in the box I found) and severley abridged and was entitled *Reminiscences
of a boy's service with the 76th Ohio, in the Fifteenth Army Corps (1908*).
Would this original ledger be of any value to anyone, besides me? Also,
there are pictures and personal letters included as well. I just don't know
what I should do with such a special piece of American history, it is such
a detailed account of every battle from the eyes of a soldier. Anything you
have to say would be of great value.
Thank You
Shaundra

Shaundra - After just writing you about my own great-grandfather's service in the Ohio 76th, I thought of doing a "Google" search on the title of the ledger that you have and this is what I found on the Library of Congress website:
