Does anyone remember where this kerfing comes from (or came from?  Seems like it may have been a passing fancy).  I really like it.Screen Shot 2021-07-18 at 2.34.03 PM.png

Saw the advancedshelltech page - I'll have to go back and look - it seemed needlessly complex at first glance (and thus probably expensive).  It's clear that this strategy, which eliminates the problem of the kerfing resisting being "bent" in its none-bending direction near the waist, does not create the rigidy of reverse-kerf linings, but my sense is that if rigidy is the primary concern, you should be doing solid linings anyway.  Easy enough to build those up out of thin strips.  Attached photo shows prototype solid linings at 10X scale :^)IMG_2301.jpg

Being old and daughtery, according to my daughter, I can not remember the origin of the double cut kerfing but I watched a YouTube video about this style kerfing about 3, 4, or 5 years ago. There was no talk about price because the fellow made his double cut kerfing. Scooter

I know I bought it somewhere, since I've never made kerfed lining.  Now I'm running out.  Sniff ...

Regarding the advencedshelltech product, I note that it comes in 7.5" lengths.  If a lining product is flexible enough to go around any curve, why would you not want to be able to do a guitar side with a single piece?  It would make more sense to sell it in rolls of long lengths.  7.5" is just wrong.

I thought the same, but it is what it is. I haven't used their stuff, but it looks interesting.

I believe builder Bruce Petros cuts his own.

The strips are cut such that they seamlessly go together. It is pretty cool stuff. I sometimes use it for the back as it looks cool looking inside.
