Hello everyone,

I have been recently implementing the CollectiveAccess software and so far it's working accordingly.
I have successfully implemented my own plug-in and I have successfully implemented the OAI-PMH data provider, mainly because the software provides it out of the box, with minor tunning required to make it work.

Now to my real problem:
As OAI-PMH does not provide the resource itself, only metadata, I know need to implement OAI-ORE in CollectiveAccess, which has nothing out of the box.
Due to the research I've done so far, I managed to find the TDL project with OAI-ORE implementation in parallel with OAI-PMH.

Documentation regarding OAI-ORE is more scarce and most of all less useful when compared to information avaliable on OAI-PMH.
I have not found any technical good information on how to start OAI-ORE, only concept and documentation.
I have found something about Resource Map and 301 Redirect but nothing concrete that could help me take off.

I am wondering if anyone can point in the right direction or where to start.

Thanks a lot.

hi Pedro,

You might want to check out ResourceSync, which does provide means to
expose both the resource and metadata about the resource (and actually
interlink them):

Hello Herbert,

Thank you for sharing ResourceSync, I must admit I had never heard of it and will definately look into it when I find the time.
To the matter at hand. I have successfully implemented OAI-ORE on the software Collectiveaccess some time ago and had completly forgot about this post I made here a while ago. So, for future reference, this is how I did it:
1 - Enabled a new metadata format in C/A through the basic configuration files in the software;
2 - Added a xlsx mapping file to the software through the software tools, necessary to tell the software the fields that map to the ORE fields (there's a guide on this on the official C/A documentation);
3 -  Here is the schema for ORE: http://www.openarchives.org/ore/terms/

And voilá. My C/A repository now implements both oai_dc and ore and my DSpace OAI-PMH harvester can now harvest through ORE dissemination, harvesting not only the metadata but the resource as well.

Cheers.

hi Pedro,

Nice! Thanks for providing an update.

Questions:

- Did you make these changes for your own Collectiveaccess instance or
is this now an integral part of the Collectiveaccess code base?
- Would you mind sharing the OAI-PMH baseURL of your Collectiveaccess instance?

Note that you can also get your OAI-PMH baseURL registered, see
http://www.openarchives.org/pmh/register_data_provider

Cheers

Herbert

Hello Herbert,

- No, this is not an integral part of the Collectiveaccess code base although I did come in contact with them when developing it so they're perfectly aware of it.
- The project is not in productive yet so no baseURL to share yet.

Thanks, will do.

Regards,
