I sent out 420 emails today through Autocrat and then on the 421st and onward received the following message:

Document successfully created; Document successfully merged; PDF created; !!Error Sending Emails: Service invoked too many times for one day: premium email.; Manually run by sheryl....@edison.k12.nj.us; Timestamp: Feb 19 2021 11:02 AM

I read in your documentation that this is due to Google limits, however, as a Google for Education user it states that I should be able to send 1500 a day. With 420 email messages going to at least 2 recipients, sometimes 3, that still would not account for 1500 messages.

I do not believe I exceeded any other of the limits in the Quota chart that you provided. Each email message contained approximately an 85 mg file attached. I'm assuming the 25600kB / msg is per message. If it was Total for all messages in a day, that would have been maxed out after 300 messages, not 420.

I look forward to any assistance you can provide. Here are the details of the job, under my email address:

Hello,

One of our Form Mule add-on users investigated this issue around the 1500 email limitation and reported that after discussing with Google Support that the 1500 limit is a combined total limit for users within a domain per 24 hrs (not that every user in that domain has a 1500 email quota). See this thread for more info
To me, Google documentation does not make this fact explicit in either the Workplace Admin Quotas or the App Script Quotas ( these add-ons are built with App Script and therefore are subject to App Script Quotas), but I also could be missing where this point is explained, perhaps in the initial Admin set-up.

You are correct that recipients that are CC'd or BCC'd count individually towards the quota and that the quota resets daily.

If you are bulk emailing in large quantities, Google recommends staggering mass communications over a few days. Send messages to one group of recipients, wait 24 hours, and then send to another group.

If you believe the limit you are seeing is incorrect or have additional questions about email limitations, I would recommend reaching out or having an admin within your domain reach out to Google Support for more information.

I have a slightly different take on the issue.  My understanding is that Google has a rolling clock that checks your quota.  The limit is either 100 or 1500 emails per 24 hour clock depending on the type of account.  That means that if you send 500 emails at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, the remaining quota at 8:30 am on Wednesday will be 1000.

Here is a small spreadsheet that contains a script that will tell you your remaining quota. Display remaining quota  The first time you click on the check quota, you will be asked for permission to run.  Follow the prompts.

Remember that each email counts.  If one row sends to three email addresses, that will count as three in your quota.

Once the spreadsheet has been given the approval to see your data, you just have to open the spreadsheet to see your remaining quota.

I have an idea how the 24 hour clock works but the important thing is that you can't exceed your quota or Autocrat, FormMule or any script that sends emails will fail.

I don't know if NV could add an option to Autocrat and FormMule to check and display the quota.

Thank you for your assistance. Now that I understand it is within a 24 hour period, then I can see how I hit 1500 messages within that period. I waited until Monday and sent over 500 messages to 2-3 recipients with no issues. Thanks for explaining how this works!
