Hi ,

I hope this finds everyone doing well and having a good day.  I have a question that maybe someone here can help me with.  I was diagnosed with ulms with mets to both lungs 4 years ago.  I had 3 surgeries and chemo(gem/tax) and have been NED for almost 4 years.
I recently was diagnosed with a small brain tumor (1.5cm diameter) at the base of my brain.  The tumor is called meningioma...which are in 92% of cases benign.  I will be seeing a neurosurgeon in the neurology oncology dept of the Cleveland Clinic on the 30th of Sept.  Has this ever happened to anyone of you and if so was the tumor benign?  Don't worry I can deal with whatever comes my way...just curious I guess.

Thanks for any help.
Betse

Sorry but I haven't heard of it. You are a fighter and survivor. This won't get on the way of a healthy life.
Best wishes
Patricia

Good morning, Betse,

I am responding to your question regarding the meningioma that you apparently have.  First of all, there is no relationship between LMS and meningioma.  Meningiomas are among the most common type of brain tumor and are more common in women than men.  If the tumor is in an accessible location an experienced neurosurgeon should have no trouble removing it.

I hope all goes well.

Hi, Betse,
I am sorry to say I am unable to help you with this. I have not as yet, had a meningioma. Also, I am not a doctor. Hope your appointment on the 30th goes well. And, I am so happy that you have been NED for almost 4 years with the LMS!
Hang in there,
Paula

I have a 1.7 cm arachnoid cyst in my skull. This was discovered one year ago when I had a MRI of my head following a car accident. A follow up MRI in January 2013 showed no change. I have an additional MRI scheduled Friday, September 13, along with a meeting with my oncologist Robin Jones, MD  at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.

Apparently arachnoid cysts can be there from birth, can arise from a car accident, or could be, well, malignant.

Watching the "1.7 cm thing" & hoping for the best,

Good morning, Deborah,

An arachnoid cyst is not malignant.  It is less than an inch in diameter and is unlikely to cause any problesm for you.
