Hi,

I am looking for some way, how to mark some tasks as failed = not completed task, which cannot be completed anymore
- I would like to track fulfilling of habits and be able to mark them as unfulfilled if some it happens and not to delete them or move somewhere in the structure

I think task now can by only uncompleted/completed, but the task uncompleted looks like it is possible to complete it

have you any suggestions how to workaround it ? I know I can set strikeout and font color by formating the task, but it cannot be done on one click, and also the task Action remains Active Action

I sometimes append the task description with “ – abandoned”

I use [ ✘cancelled ] at the beginning of the task name & check the task off as done.

In GTD, whatever task/project that you no longer want / decided not to work on is consider done.

use search & find "[ ✘cancelled ] " to see all tasks that is cancelled.

Hope this is helpful.

I created a context NA. If I abandon or cancel a task I simply add the context NA and mark it as complete.

Like Wallace and Kamajo, I use a context to tag a task as -Superseded (in my case, the hyphen character puts this at the bottom of my list of contexts, after all the ones with an @ tag or a ? tag). I then check it off close it. I know that's still three clicks, or two clicks and tapping the spacebar, or a shortcut key and a tap on the spacebar, but I hope it helps.

I've also created an Autoformatting  rule to put a little red x in icon position 0, right next to the task completion checkbox.

Hi Stéphane, a new user here.
Sounds interesting to me, can you please share the autoformatting rule?
Thanks,
René

To remove it from the active actions you could add a dependancy to an "abandoned" called task. Personaly I also prefer to mark it with a tag and set it to complete.

Hello Rene,
It's actually one of a few autoformatting rules I've inserted before the default rules, to set the icon next to the tick-box to what I want:

The rule condition is simple (Contexts contains -superseded):

Here's how an entry looks in my outline (in among some examples of my other custom formatting, with colours chosen so that project titles stand out and inactive tasks are greyed out):

Hope some of that helps you with your system.

Hi Stéphane, that's clear!
   Thank you very much.

René
