Hi, i have "by folder name" view (screenshot) in the desktop version.Sorted by "caption".  Imported to V2 android. But on V2 Android 10, 11, 12,13 are at the top in order followed 1, 2, 3,4,5,6,7,8,9, inbox, B...

I tried turning off auto sort for this view (in V2) and tried manual sorting. Still it goes back to the 10,11.. pattern.

Any idea how to fix this?.  Thanks.

Hi
Only the default starred view can sync the order + the "All tasks" is the same on all platforms.

Hi. I agree with Andrei that manual ordering is synched only in the default starred view. So lets talk about why your Folder Name view sorts differently across platforms.

From your screenshot, looking at the first two characters of each folder name, I see nine folders named <1 through <9, then folder named <I (probably <Inbox>) and then four more named 10 through 13. This order depends on the fact that the less-than character sorts out above the numerics, which is true on Windows but false on Android.

There have been a number of discussions over the years on the difference in native sort sequence for punctuation and other special characters between Windows and Android. In order to make your views sort the same across platforms you would need to replace the "<" in your first nine folder names with some character that sorts above numerics on both platforms. I can't test this right now as I don't have access to a Windows machine but I think that I recall that the "#" character would work. The safest solution, however, would be to use zero.

So if you rename your first nine folders from <1, <2 etc. to 01, 02 etc it should work. Please write back and let us know if this works for you.

Sir Dwight, thanks for jumping in.I was hoping you would show up.

Here is the latest. Adding "0" hasn't quite helped. At least it brought <inbox> to the top in the Windows version. Thanks

surprising.

please:
1. tap the top left hamburger menu to raise the view menu
2. tap the word edit in the lower left to  raise the edit views page
3. find your "by folder" view and tap on its name to raise custom view settings
4. tap on Sort By to raise the sorting page
5. send a screen print
thank you

something here us not making sense to me. i hope to get a chance to set up a test and figure out what is happening. but it will probably take a while. you should probably write to sup...@mylifeorganized.net for help.

but i dont think that you should describe the problem as involving impermanence of imported views. The spec for the imported view calls for sort by caption which is correct. But the resulting view does not appear to be complying with the spec. I would describe the problem as "sort by caption not working correctly in hierarchical view."

If Support helps you fix this could you let me know, in case i am researching it i would be able to stop.

Also, it would be helpful if you could provide a view of the tree expanded. One hypothesis eould involve checking if some level below the folders is sorted correctly.

Latest info:-

Uninstalled MLO V2 on the phone -> downloaded latest version->reinstalled-> activated-> new profile created->synced to desktop profile (wifi sync)> imported views from desktop/

Now "sort by caption" in the "by folder view" is sorted properly it looks like. Also tested  manual ordering in All Tasks view and it synced to V2 All Tasks (not syncing in "by folder" view). So looks like we are good.

Thanks! Sir Doug and A.Bacean
