I am a bit unclear on how exactly the sequence of events when I sync to cloud. First off...I would like to understand when the terms "local" and "remote" are used what do they mean; I used to think that local = PC Desktop...and remote = the phone but am less sure now; Or is local whichever system you are currently manipulating?

Given that...when I sync from the PC..am I sending latest info to cloud only...or is it also going to be pushed from cloud to my phone with out me doing anything else (like hitting sync button on my phone); I cant tell as I believe there is some time required for the cloud transfer and my experimentation always seems less than conclusive
.
Part of this question has to do with the cloud Icon.
I notice if I synced both platforms..I get the simple cloud icon; If I make and addition then to either platform the icon changes on that platform to a cloud w/ arrow (I assume this is just an indicator telling me Im out of sync)

If I hover over the PC cloud Icon a get a message that reads "Click <shift> to check cloud modifications w/o sync".....this doesn't seem to do anything on my system (?)

I haven't seen a clear statement of this process in the Help or other websites...maybe I missed it.

Thanks for responding

Hi David,

First off...I would like to understand when the terms "local" and "remote" are used what do they mean; I used to think that local = PC Desktop...and remote = the phone but am less sure now

Local is your device (phone or desktop)

Remote is the MLO Cloud service running on Amazon’s servers.

Given that...when I sync from the PC..am I sending latest info to cloud only...or is it also going to be pushed from cloud to my phone with out me doing anything else

When you sync, the Amazon Servers and your device exchange the changes and are made the same.

No, the Cloud service doesn’t send changes to your devices automatically. The device has to initiate the sync. There are MLO settings to have changes set automatically (see set up screens on each device)

If I hover over the PC cloud Icon a get a message that reads "Click <shift> to check cloud modifications w/o sync".....this doesn't seem to do anything on my system (?)

The shift click doesn’t seem to do anything here either.

Part of this question has to do with the cloud Icon.

I notice if I synced both platforms. I get the simple cloud icon; If I make and addition then to either platform the icon changes on that platform to a cloud w/ arrow (I assume this is just an indicator telling me Im out of sync)

The Windows Desktop sync

Sends changed data to the MLO cloud service at the Amazon Servers.

On Android cell phone:

The Sync with the arrow says the phone has changes to send

When there are no changes on the phone you see the plain cloud icon.

If there is a conflict between the Cloud and the Windows Desktop, a dialog shows

If I have changes on Both the Desktop and the Phone, I will Synch both more than once.

1 Send changes / receive changes

2 same for the other device.

I have not experimented with the number of times to synch, but I think Dwight would know this.

I hope this helps,

-Al
