Hi all,

Unsure if this will be allowed, but I wanted to provide you a link to my GTD Tips blog. This is purely my thoughts on the GTD discipline, and soon will you will many entries with respect to how I am leveraging MLO. Again, I am not selling anything, it's simply my approach and tips based on what I've learned in the past 20+ years of using a GTD like system (and variants thereof). Thanks!

Hi, Dad. Or should I call you Pro?

I tried to view your tips, the URL led to a screen where I needed to log in or sign up. Any suggestions?

Christoph: thanks for the URL.

Boxing Dad: Are you expecting to write up how close MLO comes to fully supporting your vieion and detailing the areas where it falls short?

Hello PBD,
Thanks for the link Christoph,
Welcome back Dwight!

I've had a look through your blog. A lot of what you said chimes with me, PBD.

I use folders in MLO to group by Areas (Work, Personal, Home, Community), then by role (electrical engineer, functional safety engineer, dad, home finances, home maintenance) and finally by project / sub-project.
I use stars in the same way as you.
I use contexts for GTD @contexts.
I use flags to highlight Roles and Goals.
I tag projects as Projects.
I use folders for storing some project information, contact names, etc - although now I'm moving to OneNote for all that.
I use due dates as the final deadline date for a task.

That's about all the task metadata I use. I'm trying to minimise the amount of clicks I have to do to enter or manage a task. The above already has me spending too much time entering and managing tasks, rather than doing them.

Just thought that might be of interest, for comparison with what you do.

Keep blogging...

Stéphane

Yes. I will soon start creating articles on how I am leveraging MLO.

MUCH of what I posted (if not perhaps all) in that blog is before I stumbled across MLO. Ironically, MLO has been the only tool I have come across that is allowing me to do truly what I want. I was very close to writing my own application, which I am fine with...but glad I ended up not having to.

Thanks!

Hey JR, thanks for the kind words. I'll definitely let you know when I write how I utilize MLO.

Seeing as you are somewhat new to this, below is an entry I wrote that might help. In fact, it's an exercise that I still do to this day.
