Hi, Paul. I was a beta tester for this function and we identified this
as a problem at the time. What is happening, precisely, is that when you
first try to change the filter, MLO creates a new, unlocked workspace
that's a copy of the original but looses the update you were trying to
make. If you immediately make the same edit again, this time it will be
preserved in the new unlocked copy of the workspace. As long as you
notice that something happened and try again, everything works out ok.
The problem is where (like you) the user does not notice, in which case
the results can be really confusing. We had suggested something like a
"sorry, you better try that again" warning, or even better, gray out the
filter edit controls when the workspace is locked, provide a button that
will make a new unclocked copy of the workspace and ungray the edit
controls. Developers declined to make these changes on the thought that
not many people will be doing this and those that are doing it are
clever people who will figure it out. I think that this is all true but
underestimates how frustrated the user will be while trying to figure it
out.
