This may have been answered elsewhere and if it is please point me in the correct direction:

I continue to get a "projector driver not connected" error when sending code to through the RS232 mount.  I know the USB driver is working, I have double checked the baud rate and COM port.  It seems I am missing a driver, but I cannot locate online.

Projector Veiwsonic PJD7820HD.  I called and they state they have no driver other than for the "monitor" driver.

I did find reference to this issue around a year ago, but thought that might be out of date now.  Any help is greatly appreciated!d

Can you describe your setup? Like, what do you mean by "RS232 mount"? What are you connecting the projector 2 (PC? RPi? What OS?) What software are you using to drive it (CW? NanoDLP?)

So Windows 10, 24 GB RAM, Xeon processor.  running CW.  Connecting as described in the advanced projector tuning section under software.  Below is a screenshot.  I have tried multiple variations and everything seems to link up except when excecuting the command from CW.  I also tried direct coding, but that also generates an error of "Unknown Command"

So, that message is a CW message, and I can't make it happen.. but I'm also not on Windows, so that could be why. (I'm also not using CW anymore except to try and help you fix this, but that is besides the point).

Nothing jumps out at me as obviously wrong in your config.

Maybe someone who still uses CW can jump in. Full disclosure - most of the active people here have switched to NanoDLP.

OK well I guess I'll have to make that move as well.

I vastly prefer NanoDLP over CW.

And this will require Ras Pi2 B - no windows right?

Correct on RPi2. You need *some* OS with a web browser to connect to the RPi2 and upload SVG files for printing. But, that can be anything, even a phone or tablet (assuming your slicer works there).

Before you ask, I think most of us are using:
 * meshmixer for part hollowing and orientation
 * slic3r for plating and slicing

OK cool.  So you use these two instead of the CW set-up - I'm assuming you like it more because of more control and customization over the parts of the prints than CW allows.

I'm still perplexed about this no driver for projector.  I called Viewsonic too.  They didn't have a specific one.

Yeah, that error makes no sense. The only drivers in question should be the ones for the video card and the USB->RS232 adapter. Neither of these will generally be supplied by Viewsonic and, from the software perspective, he's just opening a COM port and reading and writing to it, which is the most basic form of device interaction.

Elliot,

I had some issues controlling the projector with CW, I followed the suggestion of Thorsten in this thread below, get a zero-modem cable and got it to work
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/muve-3d-support-group/QbX4O0qRIaE/dPifEaDQBwAJ

now I'm using nanoDLP and I think I still have in place, but it was never an issue again

best

A zero modem cable is also called a null modem cable in some shops.

Thanks guys, I went out and picked up one, but this appears not to change the issue.  I'll dive in a bit more just to see that I haven't missed something.  I still get the same error message:

Ah! Success!!  It is indeed the zero-modem or null-modem cable (adapter can be used in place of this as I did since PC world was out of the cables).  The trick is to then back out, shut down, unplug all the lines and restart the install from scratch.  Once you complete it does work.  The only additional change I made (which should not matter) is placing the connectors in this order USB/Serial -> Null-Adapter-> Serial Cable -> projector.  Previously the Null connector was direct plug into the RS232 port on the projector.  Appreciate all the help guys, thanks again!

For the record, the two things you changed are almost certainly independent. As in, it wouldn't have worked without the null-modem cable (or adapter), but it was more likely the "back out, shut down and reinstall" that fixed the driver error you were seeing.

Still, you needed to do both things, and order doesn't matter.

Glad you got it working!
