I just tried to use the Print feature of "print to
file" in FF 2.0.0.16. Anyone know where it might have
gone? I tried to save it to Desktop to no avail, then
to C:\My Documents\<name> to no avail ("couldn't find
file"). Tried it again and FF prompted "all ready
exists ..." Still can't find it with WinXP Search routine!

Anyone know where it might be, or in what format?
Thanks

Hi Don,
try looking for a .ps file, If you didn't name it, possibly called
mozilla.ps, at least thats what it is using Ubuntu Linux
Hope this helps.

The date and time was Thursday, December 18, 2008 5:46:49 AM, and on a
whim, Don pounded out on the keyboard:

Hi Don,

What are you entering in the output dialog box? If I type, c:\test.prn,
it's listed there. If you don't type an extension (.prn), none will be
added to the filename. Probably for cross-platform compatibility
(although I did see Winton said in Linux TB added the .ps extension, but
that's a postscript extension).

I use PRN since that's what's used to identify old DOS files. You
didn't mention if you knew how to use it after creating it. You need to
print to the same printer that was used to create the file, otherwise
you'll get jibberish. At a command prompt, type:

COPY C:\FILENAME.PRN /B PRN

If it's a USB printer, you need to have the printer shared and use this
type of command:

COPY C:\FILENAME.PRN /B \\Computer_Name\Printer_Share_Name

The OP seems to be using Windows, in which case the file will probably
be a .prn file containing whatever the print driver produces as output.
If the OP has a postscript printer, it could be a postscipt file but
otherwise not.

Thanks a lot everyone of you. Things here have been
so hectic (4' of snow to wake us yesterday) and I can
no longer remember the name. But I save it under a
name that was applicable and seldom used in everyday
usage. I didn't use an extension so the search would
be simply and I might get several hits if necessary.
That is what is do perplexing about this problem. At
this time the best thing for me to do is to try again
later with the information y'all have given me. All
messages save to a special folder in Local Folders.
Sincerely,
Don

Thanks for the suggestion. I check that folder and
found several "funny looking" article that didn't seem
like FF operational files. But none appeared to have a
PRN extension or a title that was close to the one I
was looking for: "MB C-Class", and all the dates were
a month ago...not this last week.

Hey Y'all I finally found the files I printed and
lost. How they got there I don't know and doubt
anyone else does. (That's a challenge if y'all didn't
know! ;-) ) They were in the WinXP's Recycle bin!!!
I had tried 3 times and all 3 were there with
correct names and dates! But, AFAIK Win XP doesn't
look there when searching! :-(

Don (thanks for putting up with me!)

If you know the date and time, you can usually find anything with a XP
search using that criteria.

The Print to File Printer has a Properties tab. Use it to specify where
you want these files stored.
