Moodle in the cloud

Martin Dougiamas (Moodle founder) and I were talking about the outcomes for education as a result of the global shutdown. We believe this is an opportunity for educators to think very clearly about where they want to be in the future, about avoiding companies and systems that spy on their students, lock them into their platforms, exclude parts of society and sell their data...whilst at the same time empower individuals and create amazing pedagogical outcomes. More news on this initiative next week.

A first step that is available now to all schools is the ability to sign up to Moodle's cloud service. This has seen a 30% increase in usage in one week and they are scaling up rapidly. The integrate virtual classrooms and more.

Put that along side the free Mahara service (myportfolio.schools.nz) and you have some pretty compelling, quick and open solutions.
