for instance, is there any celebrity who could influence you enough to
accept their endorsement on any of the above? -- whether that
celebrity be an author, a journalist, a musician, a movie star, a talk
show host, a comedian, a famous scientist, a religious figure, a
politician, a government official, etc.

persuaded by a "celebrity" endorsement of same?

I've read books that people have recommended, if that counts; for
example yesterday I picked up a copy of Nabakov's "Ada" that Josh Hill
recommended. I expect it to be total crap, but I'll be pleased if I'm
wrong.
I once saw a TV ad that had some celebrity endorsing something or
other, and I thought "hmmm" for a minute. That was decades ago.
Usually if the endorsement is by some football star etc, I'll put that
product on my "fuggedaboudid" list, iow if they have to get that
turkey to talk it up, it has to be garbage. Bigotted innit.

Sure. When my son was young I walked up to Magic Johnson in the Chicago
airport and asked him for an autograph for my son. Ernest was talking
to some adoring black people; I waited patiently until he was done,
then asked politely.
He looked at me with a condescending look, ignored my kid, didn't even
answer, then walked off.
So when I saw this married guy, who was trying to fuck more women than
Wilt Chamberlain to beat the Stilt's "record" only to get derailed by
AIDS, was endorsing Hillary Clinton this week, once again I knew that
since complete assholes associate with each other, I was 100% right in
my conviction about what an evil witch she is.
Don't even start with public persona - I actually meet these creeps.

Oh my goodness, yes. I depend almost entirely on people's endorsements
for everything. I don't read newspapers, rarely listen to the news,
NEVER watch tv news (what's the point?), hardly ever get to my
Democracy Now podcasts. If it weren't for my super-well-informed
husband and parents, I'd know just about nothing about any current
events.
I'm a super-independent thinker, but I have the smart people around me
doing all the deeper research. I get summaries and opinions from them,
I sort them, do a little extra cherry-on-top research and have my own
opinions from there.
