Bloodprick / CGM Glucose Tests
Don't know when they became affordably
widely available (sometime in the 1980s?),
but due to my being hypoglycemia aware
for most of my life, I didn't really ...
... need and certainly didn't want to
use them 'til I lost hypoglycemia aware-
ness and began having severe hypo prob-
lems in 2009.
I rarely did them before then.
After advice from a doctor, I began bloodprick
glucose tests many times per day/night
July 2009 -to- getting a Dexcom G4 CGM in October 2013
Of course, I still do multiple bloodprick
glucose tests even with my use of a CGM,
it's just that most often, since the Dexcom
CGM auto-updates every 5 minutes, I just
glance at my CGM for my current glucose
level (the Freestyle Libre required the
reader be next to the sensor for a reading).
Dexcom G4 CGM - October 2013 -to- July 29 2018
Freestyle Libre - July 30 2018 -to- March 15 2019
Dexcom G4 CGM - March 16 2019 -to- Present Day
