I haven't been able to find any information about firmware D014.004, so I'm guessing it's new.

Hello,

I have no idea.  These are my first DMR radios.   I guess I should hold off on flashing md380tools because I don't see version D014.004 on http://www.tyt888.com/?mod=download .

It seems that there may be a problem with many of the new UHF MD-380s running the tools firmware. These new radios come loaded with D014.004 firmware. I have had two different radios do the same thing and have read online of others with the exact same issue. After flashing the tools firmware, the symptoms are: RF/audio disconnect/drop after ~5 seconds of inactivity. Also, the green led never lights on receive. When this condition occurs, tapping any key will usually wake up the radio. This condition occurs with my mmdvm hotspot as well as with the local repeater.

See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO03_XX--tQ for a good demonstration of the problem. Note that the YouTube demo says it happens on any firmware. However, in my case the stock D014.004 firmware does not exhibit the problem, only the tools firmware.

One more note: This issue also occurs on the stock D013.034 firmware as well which I believe, the tools are based on. It's possible there is some subtle hardware change in the new radios but I'm just guessing.

I had this 'lazy RX' problem with one of the MD-380s I purchased recently. Both were running the D013.034 firmware. I noticed the problem with the one I flashed with the toolz and also the tools firmware. I then flashed the radio with the original D013.034 firmware, but the issue remained. I have now flashed this faulty MD-380 (UHF) with the new D14.004 and this appears to have fixed the issue. The radio now responds in sync with my other five DMR handsets when monitoring my hotspot.

Do we have a firmware binary for D14.004?

Yes, most likely the radio exhibiting the problem was a return that someone flashed the older firmware on. We suspect that the new radios have some subtle hardware change requiring D14.004 firmware. The 'lazy RX' problem happens with the tools firmware as well which was the reason for my original post. editcp makes it easy to reinstall any of the md380 firmware versions.

Has this been fixed in md380 tools yet?

Not completely fixed but there is a workaround tweak to disable the RX sleep timer. In the Toolkit. touch ~/nosleep.enable then run glv. See full discussion in https://www.facebook.com/groups/KD4ZToolkit/

So I have a MD-380 with D14.004.  Will flashing it with Travis's branch downgrade it to D13.XX?  Or were the issues resolved with D14.004 and dm380tools flashes the mods to that firmware now?

Thanks,

Tools is different than toolz. What problem, if any, did you have with md380tools on your new radios?
