Dear MCX/MMC users,
It is my great pleasure to let you know that our latest web-based
MC simulation platform, MCX Cloud, enters public
(beta) testing!
I cordially invite you to try the below link and start using this
cloud-computing service, provided for free to our community,
to run MCX simulations entirely in your web browser
On the above link, you can also find a video tutorial as well as a
paper
preprint detailing the technical aspect of this work.
The initial announcement of MCX Cloud was made during my
presentation in the JBO
Hot Topics Webinar back in May, if you missed that event,
you can still access the recordings from the below link
https://www.spiedigitallibrary.org/jbo-hot-topics-webinar-series?videoid=6254254076001
To ensure a smooth initial roll-out, we imposed a few temporary
restrictions to prevent a small number of jobs withholding
all our GPU resources so that the job queue is free of clutter,
these restrictions include
1. the maximum photon number is limited to 1e7 per simulation
2. the maximum volume size in any of the dimensions shall be no
greater than 100
3. the maximum time gate shall be 20 or less
4. the scattering coefficient (mus) is limited to 20/mm in any of
the regions
5. the JSON input format in MCX Cloud (defined by the schema) does
not yet support all features as in the command line
6. the maximum run-time for any of the jobs is limited to 1 min on
the server
We anticipate that we will remove most of these restrictions once MCX Cloud completes the beta besting phase.
Lastly, I want to mention that MCX Cloud is fully open-source,
you can find all the front-end and backend source codes on github,
and they are being improved every day

Hope you enjoy this new tool and look forward to hearing your
feedback!
