I use "iSpring" (and there is a free version,) for this same purpose.  It converts beautifully.  However, I am not sure about the "tech point" plugin you mention.

If you want to send me one of these PowerPoints, I would convert and upload it so you could see how it works.
Otherwise, maybe go to their website, (http://www.ispringsolutions.com), download iSpring Free (a PPT add-in), and give it a whirl.

I would be interested in seeing some of his work, and to know how this project turns out.

Hope you make progress,

    Hi all --

A friend has created numerous PowerPoints (over 60) with math equations using the TexPoint plugin (http://texpoint.necula.org/manual.html). He now wants share them with students and make them available online -- but they must have the plugin installed to see his formatting if he selects PPTShow. He's looking for a workaround -- a way to publish online that will preserve all his math equation formatting, his animations, and his sound (wav) files. Converting to video works but it's very slow.

Other than reformating with all the equations, does anyone have suggestions?

    Thanks,

    SueH

    Will they work on authorSTREAM?

Thanks for the suggestion, Patrick. I did a test with one slide, but the equation text format was not preserved. I couldn't even get it to upload to Slideboom. I have a sinking feeling that he may be out of luck & may want to consider himself lucky that converting to video works because the slides are so complex with narrations added, cursor showing, & animations, & special math text.

I'm guessing because there are so many presentations that he originally created them for use in his class with his own computer which has the plugin installed. Now that he wants to add narration & share his files through the LMS (and doesn't want to insist his students install the plugin) the shortcomings of that particular tool (TexPoint) are coming to light.
