Welding bead width restriction in stringer & weave bead - SAW process

Dear Experts !!

Could you please clarify, whether there is any Weld bead width restriction in case of Stringer bead as well as in weave bead.

Process is SAW

Welding Qualification as per : ASME Sec.IX

My customer is worried about the visual aesthetics and since it is an Automated process (SAW) and I also use Robotic MIG welding, can I complete the weld with only one weave bead with a required width of 17mm (wire dia used is 3.2mm) on the cover Top layer. Butt weld groove if single Bevel J groove and thickness of the plate is 20mm.
