PQR plate transverse to rolling direction of plate

Dear Experts,
Generally why it is preferred to cut PQR piece transverse to the rolling direction of plate.What is the technical reason behind this??

Because rolled plates have anisotropic properties.

Thinkba little bit on grains orientation and you will find out why
