I understand that some birders are having difficulty securing a room on the
Island for the coming week. Currently there is a two-night vacancy at
Shining Sails (RM #3) for Sept 25 & 26. If anyone is interested, you can

I apologize for yesterday's pelican mis-message, stating that the pelican
had returned to St. George. I had actually misintrepreted a earlier
vociemail message that was sent a week or so earlier. Sorry that some
birders traveled to St. George this morning with expecations of seeing the
bird. I pledge to delete all of my previous vociemails.

Came out here late yesterday morning with my mom, began seriously birding today with Derek and Jeannette Lovitch. Highlights of the past two days include:
 
WESTERN KINGBIRD-1
Virginia Rail-2
Yellow-billed Cuckoo-1
Philadelphia Vireo-3
Yellow-throated Vireo-3+
Cape May Warbler-handfuls
Tennessee Warbler-2
Lark Sparrow-1
Clay-colored Sparrow-1 seen by others
Dickcissel-2
 
Also, lots of Harbor Porpoises and Minke Whale in calm seas.

Sherm Hoyt reports that the white pelican has returned to Long Cove in front of his property. The bird reappeared around 12:30 pm. today.
