Hello. My Google Earth stalls for literally about 10 minutes while it
gives me the message "Loading myplaces.kml, including enabled
overlays"

My Google Earth used to startup and be ready to go in about 3 seconds.
How do I fix this to get it back to the old ways?

My cache has been deleted and purged several times.
My video card drivers have been updated.
I've tried both Direct X and Open GL.

Everything works fine once it's done loading, but there's nothing
normal about waiting 10 minutes for it to load up.

My computer is more than capable to run it.

Hi,

I had the exact same problem and found the solution: Delete everything in the location below.
It had files in there that were over three years old.

c:\documents and settings\yourADMname\application data\google\googleearth

@Adm: Kindly request to cross-post this answer to all other related threads..
Regards, Kite.

I have had the same prob for months. (Not that I am on GE for months at a time) and I felt I had gobs of 'stuff' it was trying to gather and get ready and cook and all that rot. So, I simply did a search for all kml and kmz files and placed them in one folder, deleted the folder, open up GE (really fast openning) then went to the window I had deleted the KML and KMZ folder from, and undeleted it. Results: Fast GE boot, no loss of data.
