K9 mail is very good, but I have a few ideas to make it even better.
I'm willing to pay a bounty of $100 for each of #1, #2, #5, and #6
below ($400 in total) via PayPal when each of these features are
available in a mainline K9 release available for download.

1. A configuration setting to go straight into the Integrated Inbox
when the app is loaded, rather than displaying the accounts list.

2. After reading an email in the inbox, I usually move it to an IMAP
folder. It would be good to have a "Move" button beside the delete
button on the display email page.

3. Space could be saved in this area by doing what the iPhone email
client does, and have a single button to reply, reply to all, and
forward an email. When this button is clicked, a pop-up menu asks you
which of these actions you wish to do.

4. Space could also be saved by using a swipe action (up/down or left/
right, I'm not sure which is better) to move to the next/previous
email and removing the up and down buttons.

5. When moving emails, I typically need to move multiple emails (from
the same conversation) to the same folder. It would therefore be good
if the folder list remembered its position from the last time a move
was done. This would save lots of scrolling on every move.

6. I have a lot of IMAP folders, some deeply nested. In the folder
list these have ugly names such as:

Customers.Example Customer.Project A

It would be nice just to display "Project A", perhaps indented twice.

This offer is good until the end of 2010. Others are of course welcome
to add to the bounty.

Item 4 is already implemented, and you can control the display of the
navigation button with the "Scroll navigation buttons" setting.

I'd like to take you up on that offer. I just committed an
implementation of #1 to the repository. There already was a feature
request in the bug tracker:
<http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/issues/detail?id=1797>

#5 was also suggested before:
<http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/issues/detail?id=1538>

The enhancement request for #6 can be found here:
<http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/issues/detail?id=17>

It's probably a good idea to create new issues in the bug tracker for
the missing items.

Cheers,
cketti

That sounds close to Issue 3. And I think many users would like that
sort of thing.

Also, for item #3, just set "Scroll navigation buttons" to 'Always'.
Then the phone's physical Menu button becomes the one button you
seek. I know the navigation and delete buttons go away, but you have
navigation using swipes as I mentioned before. (Make sure "Gestures"
in the global settings is checked.)

cketti,

Sounds good. Please let me know when this feature is available in a
downloadable version, and the $100 is yours.

Thanks to those who replied. I've updated the issues tracker. If
anyone would like to claim any of the bounties, please post a message
here when a downloadable version with your update is available.

The integrated inbox on startup should be available in 2.901
http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/downloads/list

This is a "beta" release and won't be published on the Android market.
Usually we only back-port important bugfixes to 2.8x. So this feature
will probably first appear in 3.0 (which will of course be released to
the market).

To enable the feature, go to "Settings" and check "Integrated Inbox on
start".

Cheers,
cketti

Unless somebody else (cketti?) is already planning on taking it on,
I'll work on item #6, Issue 17. If somebody else wants to do it,
that's fine. Just let me know.

I was working on Issue 3, which kinda covers #2, as already mentioned.
The current state of affairs is described here:
