Just got a replicator 2x a couple weeks ago and decided to do some mods. Currently added a raspberry pi with octoprint and a web cam to be able to control wireless.  Next few steps are to change the hbp to an ide aluminum upgrade.
Right now I am working on chaning from makerbot software to salefish.

Can anyone let me know where I can find ReplicatorG 40 – Sailfish? I can currently only find 0040 thanks!

The instructions tell you to ALWAYS use the latest version posted HERE https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:32084

Current version is 0040R34 so yes, please use the newer instructions as using an OLD version is basically as bad as using the WRONG version.

Also, since you have a dual head extruder- it is imperative that you take steps BEFORE upgrading like writing down your toolhead offset and ensuring you follow all the procedure to reset to factor defaults and ensure you also manually validate the offsets are correct before attempting to print.

6.3.1 Step 1: Before you install Sailfish

Before installing Sailfish, power on your printer, connect it to your computer via USB, and then run MakerWare. Using MakerWare, write down the following machine onboard parameters:

1.
The X, Y, and Z home offsets. These are also referred to as “home positions”.
2.
If your printer has two extruders, write down the X and Y toolhead offsets.

That is the #1 user mistake. They read half the instructions, don't read the second page, and then wonder why they ram into the side of the printer.
Installing is easy, use the correct Rep-G version from thingiverse-latest version, choose the right printer- that goes easy.

What they fail is the proper next steps that firmware has firmware settings- and just flashing firmware does not install the settings without user intervention.
This is the number one misunderstood or skipped series of steps that makes or breaks your printer.

Again, the thing to understand is there are 2 memory types and location in the printer.
Flash is where the firmware is stored (the code that makes the printer a printer)
EEPROM is where the settings for that firmware and specific to that firmware are stored
Flashing or updating firmware does not also update the matching EEPROM settings for that firmware, it literally only writes to the flash memory. This is the part that requires user interaction and attention to detail. This is because the code of the firmware accesses and reads and writes to the EEPROM memory as a place to read and store settings of that firmware.
Resetting to factory defaults specifically does not fix or "auto correct" toolhead offset errors. That's why this is a 2 step manual action. Step 1 reset to factory defaults to at least set the proper settings for the now freshly loaded firmware. Then manually connect and using Rep-G validate the toolhead and homing offsets are the values from the old firmware manually entered and then saved.

Just trying to set you straight since you already asked for the wrong version of Rep-g as an opener. Figured a little more direction pointing might be the nudge to help prevent 3 day disaster case.

I'm trying to install Sailfish on a Makerbot Replicator 2. The problem I have is that MakerWare no longer supports the USB connection to this printer. (I've tried and failed the find an older version of MakerWare that will work). Is there any other way to get the offsets from a Makerbot  Replicator 2?

Not that I'm aware of. There are some folks who read this who have copies of 2.4 squirreled away.
(You need versions older than 2.4 for Windows XP.) Below are links for 2.4 for OS X, Win 7 64bit,
and Win 8.1 64bit

Thanks Dan,

I was able to install MakerWare 2.4.1.24. I had to downgrade the  MakerBot firmware from 7.6 to 7.5 (there was no eeprom map for 7.6). After that I could successfully read the onboard preferences and get my offsets. Now on to installing Sailfish!

I have a Thing-O-Matic with Sailfish 4.7 that's been faithfully running for years now. Unfortunately upgrading to OSX High Sierra on my desktop has rendered ReplicatorG unusable. Do you all have any suggestions for either patching up ReplicatorG, or an alternative workflow for creating x3g files for it?

I've been fooling around with Slic3r and GPX all day, but I have no idea what I'm doing and I've only managed to crash the HBP into every limit.

I've cloned the repo over at git hub hoping that I could make some sense out of it, but I'm again way out of my league. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. At the moment I'm stuck with a perfectly functional printer, but a computer that's too freaking "modern" to use it.

I've been using Simplify3D on the TOM for a couple of years now with excellent results.  The price tag of S3D is worth it IMO.

Ditto S3D is worlds better than ReplicatorG in every way. Works great with X3G printers. I haven’t used a TOM, but the original Replicator and a clone both work great with S3D.

I usually don't need perfect results but on a current project I did, so I took your advice and bought S3D.
The difference is stunning.
I was spending time cleaning the print and putting them in a lathe to clean the support and size the holes.
It is unnecessary now.  Who knew?

Thanks for the suggestion! I've not heard of S3D before this.

Does Simplify3D support Sailfish, or just stock TOM firmware?

S3D does their testing with Sailfish enabled printers. So the
issues in the past has been S3D not working with MakerBot printers
lacking Sailfish.

I've been using S3D a few days now. It didn't connect to my printer right away and I was in a hurry so I sliced and copied the GCode and imported the code to my regular machine controller. (Repetier)
Does that help?
I haven't had time to try it with my Makerbot hardware and ReplicatorG yet. I'll do the same routine when I get a chance.

I recently updated my Mac to High Sierra 10.13.2 and that broke my ReplicatorG. Well, technically it starts, but there is no more GUI or menus that show up anymore. I've tried reloading python and java6, but nada. This is a bummer because I used S3D to slice, and RepG, that was configured for my custom TOM, to post gcode to the SD card.
If the Mac update is not the issue, I'd sure like to learn how to get my RepG working again.
Thanks all

Odd thing is that RepG works for me on 10.13.2....

So I'm not sure what your issue might be.  I happen to have all of XCode loaded, Apple's development tools.  Not sure if that would make a difference or not.

I'll do a build this evening on my 10.13.2 system, pack it up, and send you a link to try.

Thanks Dan for confirming this.
I went back into the Prefrences of Replicatorg, changed the website and added a log file. After that, I was rewarded with a fresh new GUI! Success. Don't know why, but I'm back.
Thanks again,
