Close to Potamogeton perfoliatus (flowering and fruiting stage is needed for identification) as per reply by Subir ji in another thread.

P. perfoliatus would have all submerged leaves, to me it looks like P. natans

Hello

Potamogeton perfoliatus (clasping leaf Potamogeton) has leaves arranged clasping the stems and there are no floating leaves, permanently submerged macrophyte. This seems to Potamogeton Natans or maybe (excuse me if I am wrong) Aponogeton natans (please look for bulb/onions absence of which rules out Aponogeton). I doubt Aponogeton as they have spoon shaped, rounded floating leaves.

Finally found the ID of this unique aquatic plants.. i thought it was Potamogeton coloratus compared to online images, but coloratus is a temperate aquatic macrophyte restricted to calcareous peatland waters of Europe and adjacent regions and is not part of the native or naturalized aquatic flora of India. Plus i don't think peat filled ponds are found in India due to higher temperatures and increased microbial Activity.

Honestly I don't know!

I could not find any ideas.. personally this species seems to be on decline due to habitat loss...
