Hi all,

With so many offerings, we're posting to the groups so we can start dialing in the October rides.  With this being a pre-qualifying year for PBP 2023, we have a lot of interest in our Oct 29 1000k since it's the last ACP 1000k on the RUSA calendar.  Because of that, we're planning to cancel the Oct 8 1000k unless folks let me know you'd like us to keep it.

Additional details will be ironed out in the coming weeks, but as with most LSR rides, these will be very low-maintenance, informal, self-supported rides.  No qualifiers or mandatory meetings.  Just come ride bike with your buddies and potentially ride a long way :-)

If you're a yes or a maybe:
- Please send in your LSR membership and dues.  They will be honored for 2023 as well.
- Please get your hotel reservation.  You can always cancel it.
- Please make sure I have you on the interested list for any or all rides.

The details:
  • $5 RUSA Ride Fee - New from 2020 - All riders are required to pay a $5 insurance fee, per ride, IN ADVANCE OF RIDING.  This will go directly to RUSA, so please get with Dan (dandri...@me.com) and pay in advance into a "piggy bank" for yourself (you can pay in advance for multiple rides and save lots of hassle).  You are not allowed to pay after the ride.
  • Start Info:  Italy TigerMart, 101 LR Campbell Rd., Italy, TX
  • Park:  Either behind Denny's (preferred) or along the eastern part of the parking lot along the I-35 service road.
  • Cue Sheet:  Please plan to print your own cue sheet.  I do not plan to bring any printed cues unless you let me know by Thursday morning that you need a printed version.
  • Start:  anytime by Noon on Sat 10/9.  Group start at 7:15am.
  • Night Gear:  Required for everything over 211k and with days getting shorter, I hope 200k'ers will take night gear as well.  Sun is 7:27a - 7:01p (about 11.5hrs)
  • Services:  TigerMart (24hr), Denny's (7a-11p, 24hr Th,F,S), Golden Chick.
    • Across street:  Subway, Taco Bell, Rice Express
    • Across Hwy:  Shell (24hr), McD's, Jack in the Box, Sonic
  • Hotel:  Italy Inn 101 LR Campbell Rd, Italy 76651.  972.483.7507. (the ride start)
    • This place is "rough!" - I bring eye mask/ear plugs for truck stop noises/lights
    • Most rooms have micro/refrig - verify with hotel!
    • Room guests get free coffee & sodas from the machine
    • I used hotels.com to book so I'd have something in writing.  Pricing was the same as calling.
  • Routes:  All routes stay together the first day until Mexia, about mile 53.  Only the 358k and 1000k stay together all of Day 1.  Ok, lots of moving parts and lots of waivers, so here goes:
OCTOBER 8
  1. 211k RUSA Brevet:  La Bella Rani Duecento 211k:  (14:32hr limit |  splits from the group about mile 64)
  2. 300k ACP Brevet:  308k La Bella Rani Trecento no Dixies (20hr limit | splits at Mexia | actually 308km)
  3. 400k ACP Brevet:  Mexia Breveta 400ka_Rev. 3/14/22:  (27hr limit | actually 403km)
  4. 355k RUSA Brevet:  La Bella Pammie 355k:  (23:40hr limit | splits from the group at Mexia, but DOES ride with D1 of the 600k below)
  5. 600k ACP Brevet:  (40hr limit | this is our Normangee route, so it will split at Mexia)
    1. D1 Italy 600k (same as D1 1000k)
    2. D2 Italy 600k
  6. 100k ACP Brevet:  Current plan is to cancel unless there's renewed interest.
OCTOBER 29
  1. 1000K ACP Brevet:  (74hr limit | actually 1017Km)
    1. D1 Mexia Breveta 1000ka (222.5 miles)
    2. D2 Mexia Breveta 1000Ka (205.5 miles)
    3. D3 Mexia Breveta 1000ka (204.5miles)
  1. 358k RUSA Brevet:  D1 Mexia Breveta 1000ka (222.5 miles | 23:52hr limit) POTENTIAL ADDITION

OCTOBER 31
  1. 329k RUSA Brevet:  Buffalo Bazanza 329k Brevet  (21:56Hr limit) POTENTIAL ADDITION

  • WAIVERS:  Will be attached closer to event.  Unless otherwise arranged, copies will NOT be at the ride start.  Sign, date, scan, and email the waiver to Dan (dandri...@me.com) prior to the ride start, and please let me know you're riding as well.  If you're a "maybe" or are debating between multiple rides, PLEASE email Dan multiple waivers.  Easier to discard unused waivers.
  • CUE SHEETS:  Still in process, but working from the RWGPS files, so the links are the most current.
  • BREVET CARDS:  Proof of passage will be by EPP, store receipts and/or time-stamped photos at controls.
  • PROOF OF PASSAGE:  Please plan to provide your GPS file, time-stamped selfies at each control and/or store receipts.  After you finish, please email your proof of passage and RUSA # to Dan. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUBMITTING YOUR FINISH INFO TO DAN.
  • Hotels:  Only one decent option.  The Italy Inn has a couple dozen rooms about the Tigermart options and current rate is 66.00 + tax.  This inn has smoking rooms, so if that's important to you, make sure you request a non smoking room.  It's the only motel near the start and there are 24-hr stores right there on the corner, plus a Sonic and all kinds of fast food within walking/driving distance.  All rooms do NOT have microwave/refrig in rooms - verify w/hotel if this is important to you.

Please note:
Randonneuring inherently involves various hazards, and riders assume all risks associated with the activity.  Hazards include, but are not limited to, motor vehicles; other cyclists; loose dogs, livestock or wild animals; road flaws including cracks, potholes, ridges, gratings, rumble strips, sand or gravel; lightning, heat, cold, ice, or other hazardous weather; mechanical failures; fatigue; medical conditions; assault.  All routes are on public roads or paths, and neither the route nor any flaws in the road surface are marked.  All routes are unsupported.  Riders will be required to sign and submit the attached waiver prior to riding.  Please read it, as you are signing away some rights and are responsible for knowing what you sign.

Hi all,

I'm finally in the 21st century... took the time to create a google doc for signup lists!  We want you to sign up (and sign waivers) for as many rides as you are considering, so you can decide the night before without scrambling to send signed waivers.  Please realize, any edits you make to this spreadsheet will be saved just like you left it, so don't be going wacko on me or we'll have a failed test run :)

Lots of information below for these multi-day rides, so please let Dan and/or me know any questions.  You can still email me your ride info and I'm happy to update the doc, but I don't anticipate including rider lists on these emails.
