hgvs uta connection

Hi, I have just started using the hgvs package but have been unable to gain access to the public instance of UTA. I'm using an AWS ec2 instance.

Code:

import psycopg2, psycopg2.extras

conn = psycopg2.connect("host=uta.invitae.com dbname=uta user=anonymous password=anonymous")

Error:

OperationalError: could not connect to server: Connection timed out

        Is the server running on host "uta.invitae.com" (54.84.103.15) and accepting

        TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

Would you be able to advice as to what might be causing this error?

Hello Felicia,

I have been using the HGVS package for a few years and I have encountered the same error. My organization blocks port 5432, so I had to download the UTA Docker instance and use HGVS functionally locally. Hopefully Reece (the main developer) can give you a much more thorough answer.

Thanks for your reply, Ibrahim.

I was on a home network and not using VPN so it wasn't a case of restrictions from my organization.

It was the EC2 istance configuration to allow connection on port 5432 and I managed to get it working now.
