Peter V has written instructions on how to alter non-compliant centreboards to meet the 30mm minimum forward lower corner radius rule.  Find them here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CjyVOCMNdaxA8h4yOh5MyXYbqr9Qcf_KiPjAU680ABI

This is a very well written and easy to follow document for the home enthusiast, thanks Pete.

But I have to question the timing of pre-emptively publishing this document in isolation to the rest of the factors in play...

All members have been given notice, that we are in the interim consideration and research period of Proposals to address exactly this measurement compliance, to be put to vote sometime shortly after April 2nd, 2022.  As is required under the constitution, a summary of for and against for each of the proposals is due to be put to members in this period, so that an informed vote can be cast on each proposal.

Centreboards with questionable leading edge radius, are certainly not a new item, and have been in circulation in the class as both production boards and one-offs for a long time - at least 10 years.  There is also anecdotal evidence of boards dating well older than this being measured and accepted at multiple National Titles.  Whether this is right or wrong implementation of the rules historically, it is the primary reason we now have proposals on the table.

Whatever the background noise - this will be put to the membership to vote as due process determines, and I hope we are presented with a balanced view of the influencing factors around the proposals to ensure the full picture for the class and correct votes are cast.

Rohan.

Rohan As discussed, the 30mm minimum radius rule currently applies through note D2.7 on the back of the measurement form.  The current motion concerns placing this measurement requirement in the by-laws and moving it from the back to the front of the measurement form.
