I support this view. While I am using piHPSDR on the Mac, my preferred audio routing
is also "Loopback" from RogueAmoeba (abt. 100 bucks). I also have a virtual audio cable
as a system extension, I have no problems with making the source code public so that
one can compile it using XCode, the problem is that recent version of MacOS do not load
these "kernel extensions" if they are not properly code-signed which I cannot do.
If you compile yourself, the resulting kernel extension is accepted by MacOS, but I
cannot distribute working precompiled virtual audio cables.
But "loopback" is preferred, e.g. you can route the audio output of the SDR program
to WSJTX and at the same time route this to other output devices such as your head-phone
(if you want).
