Hello, I bought it on January 14, 2026. There were no problems until yesterday. It worked in the evening. When I turned it on in the morning, it didn't connect in the program. The two outer LEDs were just blinking. The indicators on the network connector weren't lit. I checked the patch cord, reset it to factory settings, connected it directly to the computer, tried it with the router, nothing changed. Please help me figure this out.

Subject: Network connection issue with L829-1J1T-43 jack / LEDs D4-D5 state
Hi everyone,
My case is very similar to the issue described in this thread: https://groups.google.com/g/hermes-lite/c/cRClwQQEZvE
This issue just happened out of nowhere when I powered on the device in the morning.
Here is my current LED status:
  • D2 is flashing (at a normal rate)
  • D3 is OFF
  • D4 is OFF
  • D5 is ON
I have already tried a factory reset (by shorting all pins of the CN4 jumper for more than 5 seconds before power-up), but it didn't help.
I also checked the Ethernet jack for any signs of physical damage or corrosion, and tried using a different cable connected directly to the PC and through a router.
Is it possible for the L829-1J1T-43 jack to get damaged by an ESD (electrostatic discharge) event? Or could it be a failure of the Ethernet PHY/MAC section?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • Insert this shorted plug into the KEY/PTT jack.
  • Power on the Hermes Lite 2 and keep the connections shorted for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Turn off the power and remove the shorted plug.
  • Power the radio back on normally; it will now be restored to factory default

Your statement above shows you removed shorting plug before turning the unit on. The shorting plug needs to be inserted while powering on.

No problem. I am at my limit of knowledge to help you further, but someone surely will be here to help.

It looks like the ksz9021rn chip is failing, am I right? I measured the resistance relative to ground on pin 47 of the chip (capacitor C39), and it's 23 ohms.

If I'm reading the schematic correctly, it looks like FB10 is open. Looks like that's just a ferrite bead, probably on a very thin wire.
