I understand that it's just 1.3 and not 2.0, but the fact that people
are paying and it's in the App Store basically negates the fact that
it's a small point release. Furthermore, everything I've read claimed
it's a complete rewrite. I'd figure if that crappy pref would ever be
fixed it would be during a complete rewrite.
The average consumer can't be faulted for expecting a lot more than
the same thing they were getting for free yesterday. The Rollup is
nice but it's not groundbreaking. Other than that it's essentially the
same version with a menu extra that can't be hidden and costs money.
I don't mean to be a downer, I love Growl and am happy to chip in for
development, but I think the AppStore version will fail to live up to
pretty much everyone's expectations. I already went back to 1.2.2,
though I look forward to watching the release notes. As soon as I can
hide the menu bar icon I'll be back on the latest version.
