Request for sample texts

Hi

The www.google.com/fonts directory uses 2 sample texts, a short one and a long one. I'd like to ask you all for suggestions in this thread for samples to use in for the following scripts:

We use a pangram in English, and pangrams for each script would be great. Don't worry too much about a 'true' pangram, as with Latin only the capital G is displayed, so not every glyph has to be there; its really about having a sentence with a good variety of letterforms :) Here it is:

Pria offers this as a short sample text for Tamil:

For Thai, Jirayu suggested this, but its a little too long for the first short text and too short for the long text :) Please could you suggest a follow on text? :)

I really like the Pria's choice for the sample texts for Tamil from the 'Ponniyin Selvan' classical novel.

I had this (யாதும் ஊரே) in my mind for the sample text. But, Pria's choice is most apt here, I reckon :)

I wonder about using the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights as standard, which unicode.org offers at http://www.unicode.org/udhr/downloads.html and a nice chap on github has cut into json/txt at https://github.com/wooorm/udhr

The sentence could be article 1:

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Eg, for tamil

The paragraph text could follow article 1 with 15, 16, and 26 which are about nationality, marriage and education. Eg

Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. Yes, I have seeing these changes through to production queued up, but I've been focused on gettting all the products contracts and testing other fonts the last weeks and this has been pushed back until all that has settled down.

Line is a simple text goes like - When the  'Shakra' the king of God is looking at the world he saw the great queen getting down from the palanquin.

Both are original texts. Pushpanada Ekanayake wrote the paragraph. 

Paragraph is about Sinhala letters and development of letters written in a bit informal, web kind of Sinhala.

And we did a small comparison with frequency analysis we did with Sinhala corpus. You can see two reports here and here.

For testing, I've seen the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights widely mentioned as a test tool by type designers over the years. In my experience, it usually pays to continue with a test tool, at least until its weak spots show up and can be addressed.

I was looking at it over the weekend.  

+1 For this idea.   Its something that's available to all readers the world over.
