Sample text line for Sinhala

Hi All,

Few designers are working on Sinhala and many other scripts (https://www.google.lk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=sinhala)for google and there will be need for a 'Grumpy Wizard.. ' like sample text for Sinhala and all these scripts.

I would like to ask you what should be considered when selecting a such text. Like parameters or a checklist. This could be a general checklist for any script.

So few thoughts. 
  • Script specific root letters with key shapes.
  • Be a readable text with a some sort of meaning.
  • Some relationship to the culture.
  • contain basic strings to test OT features. 
  • For Sinhala Rakar, and Reph seems to be where the most complications are, so have them for sure. 
  • Different extreme heights. (Extreme ascending/descending combinations)
  • Most complex letters.

Looking forward to your ideas.

You should try contacting Sumanthri Samarawickrama, if you haven't already!  She has done a lot of research on Sinhala.   suman...@gmail.com

I thought this could be a more general discussion on how to choose sample texts for any script :)
