I just downloaded Google Earth Viewpoint and when I tried to use it it
keeps telling me I need to download Google Earth Plug-in. I have it
downloaded but I still can't get passed that notification that I need
to install it.

I am running: Widows XP Professional x64 edition version 2003 w/
Service Pack 2, AMD Atholon 64 2800+ proccessor, 180GHz - 1.93GB RAM,
SATA, with DirectX 9. My internet connection is Verizon FiOS (download
25Mbps/upload 15Mbps).

If you need any other information just let me know and I'll see if I
can get it. If I am unabl;e to resolve this I will have to cancel the
3 years and ask for my money back.

Earth Viewpoint is the window I'm in now typing this message to you,
as for my original post as well. It is program you probably opened up
to use as well to get to here and to use for the paid version of
Google Earth.

Hi,

As Fraser mentioned, and the thread he linked to expanded on, this
sounds dodgy.

We don't use Google Viewpoint to post here - this is a Google Group
that is free and only needs a browser to get to. You can get to it by
going to:-
http://groups.google.com/group/google-earth-browser-plugin/topics
in your browser - no payment needed.

Google Earth is also free and be downloaded from
http://earth.google.com/

There is a Pro Version, also linked off the above page, that has extra
features for those using the product in a professional capacity, but
it is only available for purchase from Google and not through
resellers. If anyone, apart from Google, is claiming to sell Earth
it's probably a scam.

Either that or we're misunderstanding you somewhere along the line.

Regards
Nymor

...and just to add.

Had a look and found the site for this Viewpoint product. All it seems
to be is a GE Plugin enabled site that has very limited features - so
little that isn't already available in GE - a few Sightseeing bits and
bobs but very little else.

They also have in there footer:-

"This website has no affiliation whatsoever with the owner of this
software program (Google Earth) and does not re-sell or license
software. All software is freeware and/or shareware with the
understanding that the user may need or want to pay for it later.
Membership is for unlimited access to our site's resources. We provide
an organized website with links to third party freeware and shareware
software, technical support, tutorials and step by step guides."

So they're not really offering anything that can't be found elsewhere
(imo).

Technical support for GE can be found in the Google Earth Groups
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/earth

Tutorials and Step-by-Steps guides can be found in various places...
http://earth.google.com/userguide/v4/tutorials/index.html
... is a good place to start.

Content can also be found in various places ... The Google Earth
Community boards
http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/ubbthreads.php/Cat/0
... are full of stuff and various independent websites provide links
to other content. I'd start with:-
http://www.gearthblog.com/ &
http://www.gearthhacks.com/

All the above are free and require no software downloads - aprt from
Google Earth itself obviously.

Sorry if you got burned paying for something you don't really need -
hope you can get your money back.

Regards
Nymor
