Even though there are percentages, the AdMob backend just passes the SDK an ordered list of adapters to try. And we do cache this for 300 seconds. So if you get AdMob first that 1% of the time in Russia, you may see AdMob first for a few requests.

You can check to see what the network order is by hitting:

and replacing the slotname with your mediation id. This will let you know what the SDK is using.

Wapstart must be a custom event, because AdMob doesn't have an adapter for Wapstart. Maybe your Wapstart custom event has an error, so we'll catch it and move on to the next network.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi

I'm relatively new to the Admob ad platform, and so at the same time, also new to the mediation. But I've read as much as I could and implemented various ad networks successfully, according to business requirements, including a fully implemented Custom Event for Wapstart to cover Russia, where iAd doesn't support.

So, I'm using the ad mediation on iOS, and I've found after impementing Wapstart, and more recently i-Mobile, that the breakdown of percentages doesn't seem to do anything.

I created a Russian region with:
1% Admob
1% iAd
98% Wapstart

and the default ad network breakdown
98%Admob
1% iAd
1% Wapstart

Now often, I was getting iAd every-other refresh, and Admob.
when I switch the settings in the iPhone or simulator to Russian language and Russia region, the results are the same.

I may have to provide more information, but hopefully this information paints a picture that others have seen and may advise with experience!

Currently, the settings are changed to 100% for the primary ad network, and so in North America where I am, I'm getting all admob, and no iAd, but switching to Russia, I get no Wapstart.  Is there a caching mechanism for the device region/language within the Admob Mediation static library?

The other thing that confused me is why when I was using 98% vs 1%, it was switching ad network every refresh.  That lead me to think there is a decision within the static library or on the server to restrict against the previous adnetwork source if there is no specific ad network with 100%.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the compliment Tom!

Note that it does take 5-10 minutes for your settings to propagate to the AdMob servers to serve up the new config, so the SDK caching the config isn't the only variable. If you uninstall/reinstall the app, a new config should be pulled instantly - so the server is your main bottleneck here.

Thanks very much Eric!
That caching time is what I came to feel, and in the last 4-5 days, whenever I wanted to do a unit test with locations and percentage-based delivery, I'd change the settings, then walk away for 5-10 minutes, and then things would go smoothly. Awesome.

By the way, I've been perusing the forum and your frequent and insightful responses give me hope for using Admob Mediation.  That's just a compliment from someone who values (very highly) detailed and insightful responses from internal developers.

I'd like to post another item as a word of advise/warning about using i-Mobile for japanese and Adfonic together.  They don't play nicely, but it'll be added as a new topic, shortly.

Hi Eric

I've been content with my work with Admob so far.  I had forgot the issue of needing to uninstall and reinstall the app. That's a gotcha I try not to forget!

However, it seems the mediation site has become locked out and I really need to use it.  Have many others been making note of this?

I've tried accessing the mediation part of Admob since a day or two ago when I posted about it, and I have tried different computers, different browsers (IE, chrome, safari) with multiple users in each, and everything always results in the same effect: an infinite loop of redirects.

This must be happening to every user, I assume, after running the tests, and I expect it will be fixed soon.

But I just wanted to send this note, since I told you I think your feedback on the community forum is very proactive and helpful, and it may get dealt with monday or tuesday, if not over the weekend.

Hi Tom,

We did have issue with mediation.admob.com not working, and it was widespread. But it should have been resolved earlier this week. Let me know if you're still experiencing issues.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric, thanks for that note.

I was checking every day, and noticed it resolved on Monday. Terrific!
