App Open Ads showing behind device cutout

Hi all, I am impementing App Open Ads inside my application. It looks like this:

Ad is showing well, however the top part (including close button) is hidden behind device screen cutout/notch. We have tried to change the theme (as we use fullscreen theme) to basic non-fullscreen.

We have also found that in iOS, there was some developer who had similar issue, but updating to the newer version of ads library solved the issue. Therefore, we have suspicion, that this may be caused by android's play-services-ads library as well. If not, could you please advise how to solve it? Thank you.

Hi, I have tested your sample project and the issue is there as well. Please see attached images. They are both AppOpen, tested AdMob and AdManager variants. At the top, you can see clearly camera cutout. Tested device is Google Pixel 6. However, in devices, where cutout is bigger, it will hide button to access the app almost entirely.

Hi,

Please note that the Test Ad label or text will appear only when you are serving test ads in AdMob or Google Ad Manager. This helps developers verify that they're not accidentally clicking on real ads during testing and ensures compliance with Google’s policies.

Regarding the cutout issue, I will check with the team and get back to you.

Hi,

Please note that we've tested the Google Sample Application on a Pixel 6 with the Uzbek system language. After changing the theme as you mentioned, despite the camera cutout, we could still easily access and use the button's functionality. we were able to access the button without any issues. While the 'test ads' text takes up a little more space due to the Uzbek language, the button is still fully functional.

Hi, thank you for your response. We know that in Pixel 6 it looks and works well, but what about cutouts in other devices? We are concerned about the situation, when some device won't display button to access the app due to cutout. Attaching sample images:

   

We just want to make sure, that App Open Ads are taking that into account. We want to avoid the situation, when the user cannot acccess the app, or that we would be banned by Google by not displaying button for accessing the application.

Hello, thank you for the response. We are attaching more screenshots. These screenshots were created using Cutout option in Developer options in smartphone. There is no emulator in Android Studio with cutout in top right corner, as all Pixel devices have it centered. We also do not have any real device with such cutout - but since there are different cutouts in Developer options, it means such devices exist.

 

In these screenshots, you can see that the button to enter the application is hidden behind cutout.
